Role Overview:
We are seeking a Lead Data & Application Development Specialist to serve as the definitive technical authority for our engineering practice. This is not a support role - this is the person who shapes the technical DNA of the team. You will single-handedly define how we build, how we scale, and how we evolve. Every architectural decision, every technology adoption, every engineering standard flows through you.

Key Responsibilities:
* Architecture & Systems Design. Define and own the end-to-end technical architecture for all team applications and platforms. Design systems that are inherently scalable anticipating growth, handling concurrent users, and degrading gracefully under load.
* AI & Intelligent Systems. Lead the design, implementation, and productionization of AI-powered systems - this is not about calling an API, this is about engineering reliable, cost-efficient, and scalable AI pipelines, design and implement agent-based architectures with tool use, multi-step reasoning, memory management, and guardrails for safe autonomous operation.
* Full-Stack Engineering Excellence. Build and maintain complex production applications using React and/or Vue with TypeScript, implementing advanced patterns: custom render engines, virtualized lists, complex state machines, real-time collaborative features, and offline-first architectures.
* Automation & Process Engineering. Define the automation strategy for the organization - identifying the highest-leverage opportunities and building systems, not scripts. Architect enterprise-grade Google Apps Script solutions that go beyond simple macros.
* Technical Leadership & Team Development. Set the engineering culture defining how the team writes code, reviews code, tests code, deploys code, and documents code. Conduct architecture reviews and design critiques, providing constructive feedback that elevates the team's technical thinking.
* Stakeholder Communication & Strategic Influence. Serve as the primary technical voice in stakeholder meetings, project planning sessions, and leadership reviews. Translate complex engineering constraints into business language explaining why certain approaches cost more, take longer, or carry risk, and proposing alternatives with clear trade-offs.

Qualifications (Required)
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a closely related field.
* 6-10 years of progressive, hands-on experience in software engineering and application architecture, with at least 3 years in a role involving architectural ownership.
* Strong JavaScript and TypeScript - not just fluency, but deep understanding of the event loop, memory management, async concurrency patterns, advanced generics.
* Production-proven experience building complex applications with React and Vue.
* Advanced SQL proficiency query plan analysis, index optimization, complex window functions, CTEs, materialized views, database performance tuning, and experience modeling data for both transactional and analytical workloads.
* Firebase expertise at an architectural level: Firestore data modeling for scale (document size optimization, subcollection strategies, composite indexes, fan-out patterns, aggregation pipelines), Cloud Functions (2nd gen, concurrency configuration, min instances, secrets management, VPC connectors), Firebase Auth (custom claims, multi-tenancy, session management), App Check, Remote Config, and Firebase Extensions.
* Strong API design experience - you have designed APIs that other teams consume, implemented versioning strategies, built comprehensive documentation, and engineered for backward compatibility.}
* Track record of technical leadership - mentoring engineers, establishing engineering standards, leading design reviews, and building team capability over time.

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Data Science with coursework or research in deep learning, NLP, reinforcement learning, or multi-agent systems.
* Experience with advanced AI engineering: vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, ChromaDB, Vertex AI Vector Search), embedding model selection and fine-tuning, agent frameworks, multi-agent orchestration.
* Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS architectures on Firebase/GCP - tenant isolation, data partitioning, feature flagging, and per-tenant billing models.
* Experience with data governance - classification policies, retention rules, PII handling, audit trails, and compliance frameworks relevant to cloud-hosted data.
