About Us
Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies is a joint venture between two industry leaders with a clear vision for automotive's next chapter. From operating systems to zonal controllers to cloud and connectivity solutions, we're addressing the challenges of electric vehicles through technology that will set the standards for software-defined vehicles around the world.
The road to the future is uncharted. By combining our expertise across connectivity, AI, security and more, we'll map a new way forward. Working together, we'll create a future that's more connected, more intelligent, more sustainable for everyone.
Role Summary
As a Data Engineering / Analytics Engineering Intern, you will work with a data-focused engineering team to help build and improve the data platforms that power analytics, AI experimentation, and operational insights across our vehicle and cloud systems.
This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, analytics, and applied AI. You will contribute to building reliable data pipelines, improving data models used for analytics, and exploring ways to automate analytical workflows using modern AI-assisted tooling.
The internship is designed to provide hands-on experience working with real production-scale datasets, modern data platforms, and cloud-based analytics infrastructure.
Responsibilities
* Develop AI-Driven Analytics Scenarios: Use AI to build smart scenarios that automate complex data requests, helping us answer high-stakes business questions faster than a human ever could.
* Build Intelligence Playbooks: Create and document strategic playbooks for recurring investigations. You'll use AI to standardize how the team performs deep-dive analytics and data audits.
* Engineer High-Efficiency Pipelines: Get under the hood with Python and SQL to build the ELT pipelines that serve as the high-velocity backbone for all our AI-driven workflows.
* Modern Analytics Engineering: Help build the "source of truth" by developing scalable data models that turn raw telemetry into clean, curated datasets for both people and models to use.
* System & Performance Tuning: Monitor and improve our data platforms, making sure our infrastructure stays as reliable and fast as the insights you're producing.
* Bridge the Gap: Work as the technical link between the Engineering and Analytics teams, translating real-world business needs into elegant, automated data solutions.
* Champion Data Quality: Write automated tests and integrate your code into modern CI/CD workflows to ensure our data is always production-ready.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
* Candidates should be available for a full-time commitment from July 2026 through December 2026.
* Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program at an accredited university in Serbia or Europe.
* Proficient in Python and SQL for data processing and transformation.
Preferred Qualifications
* Actively pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related technical field with the intent to return to school following completion of internship.
* Curiosity for Data Engineering: You understand the basics of how data moves from point A to point B and are eager to learn how to build scalable pipelines.
* Cloud Exposure: You've experimented with or are interested in cloud environments (like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) and want to see how they work at production scale.
* The "Builder" Mindset: You enjoy using AI tools to help you code, solve puzzles, or automate repetitive tasks in your personal or academic projects.
* Problem-Solving Skills: An interest in Analytics Engineering-you don't just want to move data; you want to understand the "why" behind the numbers.
* Tools & Tech: Exposure to (or a strong desire to learn) modern data tools like dbt, Databricks, or BigQuery. You don't need to be an expert, but you should be ready to dive in.
