Position Summary

The New Ventures, Technology & Innovation (NVTI) enabling area is unique in Deloitte. Its focus is to rapidly identify, shape, experiment with, and incubate new business opportunities that leverage leading-edge technologies. We operate at the intersection of applied research and development, venture building and investing, and start-up incubation. Our team focuses on how strategy, innovation, and technology advances are reshaping Deloitte's marketplace offerings and internal operations. Deloitte's breadth, depth, and scale, combined with our passion for innovation, create powerful opportunities to help our clients and our organization stay ahead of change, deliver impact that matters, and transform complexity and disruption into lasting value.
Work You'll Do
The Analyst will be a member of the D71 strategy team, helping leadership determine where D71 should place bets, how potential ventures should be evaluated, and what evidence is required to advance or stop an opportunity. Working across emerging domains and active ventures, the Analyst will combine market intelligence, strategic analysis, business-case development, and executive communication to support portfolio choices and stage-gate decisions. The role offers exposure to senior leaders, founders, product managers, engineers, external experts, and Deloitte businesses as D71 develops and scales AI-native products, platforms, and new businesses.
Responsibilities
* Conduct outside-in research on structural market shifts, emerging technologies, business-model disruption, customer needs, regulatory developments, and competitive activity to identify attractive venture domains.
* Build market landscapes, market-sizing analyses, competitor and start-up profiles, ecosystem maps, and white-space assessments to inform where D71 should explore and invest.
* Support the development and testing of venture theses, including the problem to solve, target customer, differentiated value proposition, Deloitte advantage, business model, and path to scale.
* Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses, including revenue-pool assessment, unit economics, scenario analysis, financial modeling, and build-buy-partner evaluations.
* Design and support validation activities such as expert interviews, customer discovery, hypothesis testing, and structured diligence with internal and external stakeholders.
* Prepare decision-ready materials for D71 stage gates, portfolio reviews, and executive forums, clearly synthesizing evidence, risks, strategic implications, and recommendations.
* Monitor active ventures and the broader portfolio against strategic, market, customer, and financial indicators; identify patterns, dependencies, and implications for future investment.
* Partner with founders, product managers, engineers, finance, go-to-market leaders, Deloitte businesses, and external experts to integrate perspectives and advance strategic work.
* Apply AI-enabled research and analysis tools to accelerate sensing, diligence, synthesis, and executive storytelling while maintaining high standards for accuracy and judgment.
* Manage discrete analyses and workstreams with clear plans, milestones, owners, and follow-through in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
The Team - About D71
D71 is Deloitte's AI-native venture studio and the firm's forge for scalable growth. D71 rapidly identifies, builds, validates, and scales Horizon 2 and Horizon 3 businesses beyond Deloitte's current core. It combines outside-in market intelligence, disciplined venture strategy, platform-forward product development, and Deloitte's relationships and ecosystem to create a portfolio of investable businesses with multiple paths to future growth. D71 operates with start-up speed and applies an evidence-based venture lifecycle from domain selection and validation through alpha, beta, production, and scale.
The Successful Candidate Will Bring
* Strong strategic and analytical thinking, with the ability to structure ambiguous questions and translate analysis into clear choices.
* Curiosity about emerging technologies, AI-native business models, start-ups, venture creation, and markets undergoing structural change.
* Effective written, verbal, and visual communication skills, including the ability to create concise, decision-oriented materials for senior leaders.
* Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality, source-grounded work products.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain momentum in a fast-paced environment.
* Collaborative working style and the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse teams and levels.
* Sound judgment, intellectual honesty, and willingness to challenge assumptions or recommend stopping an opportunity when evidence does not support continued investment.
* A self-directed, entrepreneurial mindset and comfort operating with incomplete information.
Qualifications
Required:
* Bachelor's degree in-progress in business, economics, finance, science, technology, engineering, mathematics, operations, liberal arts, or another relevant field.
* Ability to travel up to 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the teams and stakeholders you support.
* The start date for this position will be Winter 2026/2027.
* Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of employment.
* Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Preferred:
* Strong academic track record, including a minimum GPA of 3.5.
* Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
* Experience with market analysis, financial modeling, competitive intelligence, business-case development, or strategy projects.
* Exposure to start-ups, venture capital, venture studios, product strategy, emerging technology, or innovation environments.
* Hands-on fluency with generative AI tools for research, analysis, synthesis, and content development.
