bioMérieux is strengthening its industrial capacity to better serve its customers by establishing a new syndromic tests production unit at the La Balme-les-Grottes site.
A strategic project has been launched, which involves expertise sharing and collaboration between our American and French teams based in La Balme-les-Grottes and Grenoble.
This ambitious project offers real chances to grow professionally in an innovative and international environment.
To support the growth of our team and further develop our expertise, we are looking for our future Biological Engineer - Product Industrial Support, who will report to the Product Leader Industrialization in the Product & Process Transfer Workpackage.
This position will be based in Salt Lake City for 6 months, in VIE, starting mid-2026, and then continue at the La Balme-les-Grottes site.
What will your responsibilities be?
You will join a dynamic project team dedicated to transferring FilmArray® and SpotFire® products, responding to technical requests related to products and associated processes:
* Product performance verification and related testing
* Support for other project work packages
This key role aims to ensure the performance and compliance of our future products, in close collaboration with other work packages (Validation, Quality, Production).
You will bring your product and method expertise to validate product performance within the TWINS project.
You will design, plan, and execute tests, while providing technical expertise, meeting deadlines, and complying with current quality and safety standards.
In Salt Lake City, within the System Validation team in the R&D department:
* Train on all activities of the U.S. team to learn existing techniques and be able to transfer knowledge to France: performance verification methods, test protocols, analysis tools, and quality standards:
* Understand the manufacturing process of FilmArray® and SpotFire® pouches
* Learn the full product performance validation process for FilmArray® and SpotFire® pouches within the System Validation team
* Perform product performance verification under real conditions on FilmArray® and SpotFire® products
* Troubleshoot non-conformities encountered during testing
* Document best practices and prepare knowledge transfer to the French site
* Contribute to writing future procedures in French upon return
* Understand the current lab organization to help define the strategy for setting up future industrialization labs in France and provide expertise on product performance validation
Upon Return to France:
* Set up industrialization laboratories
* Train French colleagues on the scope acquired in Salt Lake City
* Maintain technical liaison with U.S. teams
* Define strategy and develop test protocols, then participate in testing for process validation related to equipment line installation and raw material selection for the TWINS plant
* Analyze results and perform performance verification
* Interpret results, write associated reports and documentation
* Identify non-conforming tests and propose corrective actions
* Represent Industrialization in various work packages
* Participate in coordinating cross-functional activities related to the project
Who Are You?
* Master's or Engineering Degree in molecular biology, microbiology, or equivalent
* Initial experience in molecular biology, ideally in an industrial role
* Strong knowledge in molecular biology (extraction, PCR, RT-PCR, microarray), biology, and microbiology (strain culture, handling biological samples)
* Knowledge of FilmArray® and SpotFire® product ranges is a plus
* Ability to analyze results, detect anomalies, and write technical documentation
* Comfortable with digital tools (Excel, lab software, databases)
* Versatility to manage urgent situations and organize multiple projects simultaneously
* Strong interpersonal skills, enjoys working in multidisciplinary and project-based teams
* Excellent communication and teaching skills: able to convey information clearly and effectively
* Languages: English - fluent (minimum B2), both written and spoken; French - fluent
