Summer Trainee, Requirements Engineering & Management

Job Description:

KONE Technology and Innovation (KTI) combines the physical world of elevators and escalators with smart, connected digital systems - helping billions of people move within buildings every day. Our R&D teams tackle complex challenges across hardware and software, blending agile working methods with emerging technology.

We are looking for a Summer Trainee to join our global High Rise Elevator product R&D Team in Hyvinkää, Finland, for 2-4 months between May and September 2025 (depending on your availability).

In this role, you will work on requirements engineering and management, contributing to processes, practices, and supporting tools. While tools such as Jama Connect may be used in our environment, the focus will be on capturing, organizing, reviewing, and improving requirements, regardless of the specific platforms applied.

Your key responsibilities will include:
* Collaborating with global experts to collect and structure technical requirements.
* Facilitating requirement reviews to ensure accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
* Supporting improvements to requirements processes and concepts, making them more efficient and effective.
* Exploring the use of emerging technologies, including AI, to enhance requirements engineering practices.

Who we're looking for:
* A student currently working toward a Master's degree, preferably in electrical, mechanical, or software engineering.
* Systematic in your working methods, with good written and spoken English skills.
* Curious and eager to understand complex technical systems.
* Open-minded, proactive, and willing to learn.
* Prior understanding or experience in requirements engineering is an advantage, but not mandatory.
