Seasonal Trainee in Research

Job Description:

* Duration: 5 months / flexible
* Target start date: Spring 2026 / flexible
* Educational recommendations: Current M.Sc. or B.Sc. students in relevant areas. We offer demanding and interesting internship positions also for PhD students.
* Location: Espoo / Tampere / Oulu, Finland

The candidates will have to carry out research in the field of mobile communication technologies, like 5G-Advanced and 6G systems, AI/ML, algorithms, WiFi, quantum technologies, software development, simulation methods, and tools and proof-of-concepts, e.g. in advanced energy storage technology.

You will be working as part of the research team. We have multiple research teams in each location and candidate research may focus on one of the following: radio interface access methods, system architecture, AI/ML, simulation tools, HW design, demonstration

Candidate Requirements:

* Relevant on-going studies, e.g., Engineering or Mathematics
* You are fluent in English (written & spoken)
* Most of the positions expect you to have a basic understanding on wireless cellular systems and radio access methods
* Several positions require software skills, e.g., C++ or Matlab. In those positions, experience on simulation methods and tools is a plus.
* In certain positions, understanding of battery technologies and reserve energy markets is a plus.
* In turn, for some positions, quantum technology knowledge is required
* For some specific positions, knowledge on WiFi is also a plus.
