Context & Environment

The internship will be hosted inside GU team (Geostatistics and Uncertainties) in Pau. TotalEnergies has developed a webapp called FRF-geostat (Fast Reservoir Forecaster, geostatistical approach) which allows to perfom geostatistical prediction of production profiles (with 2D interpolation). Two case studies have been addressed with this technique. A new option has been developped to propose new wells location. The intern will be hosted for 5 months minimum, within a period from April 2026 to October 2026.

Activities

As a Geoscience and Statistics Engineer Intern M/F, your responsibilities will include :
* Applying this methodology to a new case (data from the Middle East).
* Interpolating water breakthrough profiles (Water Cut) to define the limits of the method's applicability.
* Testing the option that suggests the placement of new wells.
If you wish, you may also develop a new feature to define the drilling sequence and the production start-up schedule for the wells (a PhD thesis will start in 2026 on this topic in 3D, but the 2D FRF case is simpler).

You will work within a team of experienced professionals and alongside a mentor-coach, your future career reference point. A personalized support program will help you develop autonomy and successfully achieve your degree !

Candidate Profile

Currently enrolled in an engineering school or pursuing a Master's degree in Geosciences, you are looking for a 6-month end-of-study internship starting in April 2026 ?

You have a solid foundation in geomodeling and are interested in the fundamental principles of geosciences ? Knowledge of artificial intelligence would be a plus.
Are autonomy, rigor, and team spirit among your strengths ?
Do you enjoy collaborating and sharing ideas to move projects forward ?
An intermediate level of English proficiency will be required for this position.
