Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA?

We're looking for an Intern/ Working Student (m/f/d) for our Compliance Department to join our team.

You will assist the Compliance Monitoring / Testing and Surveillance Team in enhancing internal reporting and other administrative processes and support these with provision of data-driven / data analysis-based insights.
Further, you will will collaborate with our Financial Crime Compliance, Compliance Advisory and Compliance Business Management Teams in identifying opportunities for enhancement of internal reporting.

Business Area

Compliance Monitoring / Testing is a subgroup within the independent Monitoring and Surveillance Group within the Compliance Department.The Monitoring Team engages with Compliance Department subgroups, Risk Management Department, Internal Audit and key stakeholders within the First Line of Defence to promote an organisational culture of compliance which places regulation at the heart of its considerations and incorporates it in its governance arrangements, strategic planning, decision-making processes and commercial sustainability, in turn reducing regulatory and reputational risk, and operational losses.

Position Description

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Working with Head of Monitoring and Surveillance and Delegates to identify opportunities to support and automate the internal reporting with data-driven / data analysis-based insights.
* Working with Monitoring and Surveillance Team towards development and maintenance of dashboards and reports on Monitoring and Surveillance Plans and Issue Follow-Up progress.
* Independent completion of assigned recurring and ad-hoc tasks within timelines.
* Keeping up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in financial markets and compliance area.

For you to succeed in the role, you'll need to have:
* Advanced Student (Business Administration, Law, Economics, or similar),
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Fluency in German and English.
* Solid MS Office suite, VBA and SQL sikills, experience with data visualisation and reporting (Power BI) and experience working with medium to large data sets of different complexities are of advantage.
