Job Description:

Introduction

Quantum Computing is a rapidly growing field and recent breakthroughs include first utility-scale experiments. Correct wiring in quantum systems is essential to ensure precise qubit control, signal integrity, minimizing noise and optimizing overall system efficiency. As quantum computers scale, managing the complexity of wiring and connection layouts become crucial for reducing errors as well as enhancing efficiency during system deployments

Your role and responsibilities

The goal of this internship is to expand the functionality of internal tools to help analyze the integrity of wiring connections, which helps engineers and researchers ensure proper wiring, system runtime and efficient debugging. The tool is further intended to facilitate visualization, analysis and evaluation of qubit performance during the deployment phase as well as subsequent bring-up and debug phases.

* Identify and understand key parameters and patterns in qubit performance, prior to and post cooling down of the system
* Expand the functionality of current solutions to future IBM Quantum systems
* Improve visualization solutions to represent complex wiring connections and performance data based on user requirements
* Operate and process signals from sensitive measuring instruments, including Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs) and custom hardware
* Collaborate with hardware engineers to improve visualization and analysis accuracy
* Evaluate and explore possibilities regarding integration with existing monitoring tools and infrastructure

This internship is best suited for students of quantum computing and software-oriented computer science. Students of other technical/scientific fields like physics or mathematics with the aforementioned experiences are highly welcome as well.
