Team Introduction Our Content Delivery Network (CDN) team operates a hybrid platform that combines commercial CDN vendors with ByteDance's proprietary edge network. This platform spans a large global footprint of Points of Presence (POPs) and supports edge services such as traffic acceleration, CDN caching, gaming, and more. We are looking for experienced reliability and performance engineers to help ensure the stability, reliability, and performance of our edge services and products running on this hybrid CDN platform. This role also involves driving performance optimization and developing innovative solutions to meet evolving business demands at the edge. Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and operate large-scale, highly distributed infrastructure. Our SREs are responsible for ensuring that these infrastructure services are reliable, fault-tolerant, scalable, and cost-efficient. In this role, you will manage complex systems at scale, including hyperscale data centers, public cloud infrastructure, global CDNs, and load balancers that process terabits of traffic per second. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into actionable plans and drive improvements in system design and operational processes. Responsibilities - Architect and implement solutions that enable internal and external customers to leverage ByteDance's globally scaled content delivery network. - Build metrics, tools, automation, visualizations, and monitoring systems to support the operation and optimization of edge services. - Develop procedures and workflows that improve efficiency, build trust, and ensure compliance across operational processes. - Conduct vulnerability and capacity assessments, and develop disaster recovery strategies to ensure the high availability of global CDN services. - Participate in technical operations and on-call rotations to respond to performance and reliability issues

Candidate Requirements:

Minimum Qualification(s) - Currently pursuing an Undergraduate Master's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline. - Proficient in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, or Go, or scripting languages such as Shell and Python. Preferred Qualification(s) - Experience operating in a multi-CDN environment. - Experience with networking technologies such as TCP/IP, BGP, and DNS in carrier-grade environments; prior CDN experience is a plus. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address real-world challenges in a fast-paced environment. - Self-driven and able to take projects from concept through delivery. - Experience designing, analyzing, and building automation and tools for large-scale systems. - Experience developing and operating one or more of the following systems: OpenStack, Kubernetes, Nginx, IPVS, ELK Stack, Hadoop, or similar technologies
