Job Description:
What The Role Is
The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.
This traineeship will be hosted by the AI Platform & Capabilities Programme team under the Digital Excellence & Products Division (DXD).
Areas Of Work And Competencies You Will Develop
* Rapid prototyping of AI/automation for MOE workflows to build small, safe, usable tools
* Evaluation & measurement through simple rubrics, pass/fail criteria, time saved/quality tracking
* User discovery & iteration by shadowing officers/educators, gathering feedback, and refining solutions
* Operational documentation including clear playbooks, READMEs, and how-to guides for reuse
* Governance-aware delivery with responsible data handling, privacy/PII (Personally Identifiable Information) awareness, and basic security hygiene
What You Will Be Working On
* Build and iterate small AI-assisted tools (e.g., summarisation, triage, reporting) using notebooks or simple UIs (e.g., Streamlit/Apps Script).
* Design and run lightweight evaluations including test sets, rubrics, and pass/fail criteria, and maintain a simple metrics log on time saved and quality.
* Prepare sample datasets and prompt kits and maintain experiment logs and versioned artifacts.
* Conduct quick user demos and walkthroughs with HQ/school stakeholders, capture feedback and translate into iteration tickets.
* Produce handover materials including one-pagers, SOPs, prompt playbooks for adoption by product/operations teams.
What We Are Looking For
* Entry level proficiency in programming or automation (e.g., Python/JavaScript/SQL) andwillingness to learn Large Language Model/tooling basics.
* Experience in developing complete end-to-end solutions that have been successfully utilised by others (through capstone projects, internships, hackathons, open-source contributions, or personal initiatives).
* Ability to design simple evaluations and communicate results clearly using basic statistics, tidy charts/tables, and concise writeups.
* Strong written communication skills with the ability to transform complex inputs into clear one-pagers and READMEs.
* Strong data governance awareness including privacy and PII handling, collaborative mindset and reliable follow-through on commitments
