CDI - Rail Freight Services Buyer

Job Description:

Ensure the strategic sourcing, negotiation, and performance management of rail freight services to support the sustainable and cost-effective transport of mineral water and packaging materials across France and Europe.
MAIN RESPONSABILITIES
* Lead sourcing and negotiation of rail freight contracts
* Support negotiation and contracting on Primary Road transport.
* Develop and Support on rail question, impact and opportunities on other categories
* Define and manage technical and operational specifications (e.g., wagon types, traction models)
* Ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., safety, RGPD)
* Monitor supplier performance and initiate corrective actions
* Drive modal shift and sustainability initiatives (e.g., backhauling, DPD Rail)
* Coordinate internal approvals and digital workflows (e.g., Zycus, DOA)
* Manage Institutional stakeholders (SNCF Reseau, AUTF, DEMETER…)
* Identify, track and collect eligible subsidies (i.e. CEE)
KEY DELIVERABLES
* Strategic sourcing and contracting of rail freight services
* Manage cross functional project to optimize, maximise the use of Rail for Danone and balance Rail/Road
* Development and execution of tender processes and contract renewals
* Performance monitoring via KPIs (e.g., delivery reliability, cost per ton-km, CO₂ savings) with 4PL and Supply support
* Risk mitigation and continuity planning (e.g., hazards compensation , backhauling optimization)
* Stakeholder alignment across legal, finance, operations, and sustainability teams

IDEAL CANDIDATE:
* Knowledge of rail freight operations and contracting
* Experience in logistics procurement and supplier performance management
* Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
* Fluent in French and English
* Proficient in contract management tools (e.g., Zycus) and Excel-based cost modeling
* Committed to sustainability and continuous improvement
