Job Description:

Location: London - hybrid working

The opportunity:

At Zurich, we believe in creating a brighter future for our customers, partners, people and the planet by providing products and services that have a positive impact. To support this mission, we are looking for a determined and self-driven PR Manager to join our six-strong external communications team at Zurich UK.

No two days are the same and with the role comes a high level of variation. As a multiline insurer, we target both B2B and B2C through a high volume of trade engagement alongside consumer campaigns with external agency partners. You will be focussed on our trailblazing HR initiatives alongside life, protection and SME. Outside of this, you will get the opportunity to work across other business areas. High energy, proactivity and tenacity will be key attributes of the successful applicant. When it comes to 'corpsumer' you will find innovative ways to showcase our brand values as the best place to work in the industry.

You will also be responsible for producing trade news stories and thought leadership features, with issues ranging from long term sickness in the UK right through to AI, fraud, lithium battery fires to safety in schools. You will foster close working relationships with the trade, national, and broadcast media, using your contacts to help secure top tier coverage. An eye for detail and a willingness to get to grips with the issues facing the ever-changing world of insurance are a must.

This is a hybrid role based in London and reporting to the Head of External Communications. You will need to be proactive at finding, building and delivering high impact campaigns which secure top tier coverage around topics which may not always be considered newsworthy to the untrained eye. This role requires strategic and creative thinking in equal parts, as well as the ability to plan, execute, prioritise, and succeed in a fast-paced environment. Being part of a global brand means there is the opportunity to progress. If you consider yourself an 'intrepreneur', Zurich UK is a great place to grow your career.

Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, and an element of working from home. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren't available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.

What will you be doing?

* Creating industry leading external communications campaigns across key business areas.

* Proactively finding stories in the business.

* Monitoring the daily media agenda and driving reactive press office activity.

* Managing fast-moving, complex PR challenges from both the business and the media.

* Providing strategic PR counsel and guidance to the UK business at all levels.

* Working closely with other teams including public affairs, marketing and internal communications to amplify campaigns across all channels.

* Ensuring PR activity delivers against business objectives and articulates key messages.

* Generating on message, positive media coverage for our brand, ensuring Zurich is front of mind.

* Creating all forms of communications from PR plans and strategy presentations to press releases, social media copy, trade articles and more.

* Instigating regular journalist contact to grow and nurture new and existing relationships.

* Taking heavy topics and writing with passion, energy and flair for both B2B and B2C audiences.

What are we looking for?

* Solid experience in public relations is key.

* Personal finance and agency experience is advantageous but not essential.

* You will understand how to find and use business data to build a story.

* Brilliant on creative execution, stakeholder management, measurement, and a keen eye for detail.

* You will have the ability to simplify complex business messages and briefs to produce clear, concise media materials for both B2B and B2C outlets.

* Additionally, you will also have a good instinct for what might become a media issue.

* A proactive approach and happy to take responsibility to make things happen.

* Extensive experience in dealing with high-level media contacts across news and broadcast.

* Be a clear, concise, and confident communicator.

* Strong media contacts with the confidence to pitch to trade, national and broadcast media.

* Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under deadlines and thrive in a high energy, fast-paced environment.

* Social and influencer experience would be advantageous, working to build campaigns that leverage new and emerging digital media.
