Job Summary and Qualifications

* Provides for the developmental needs of hospitalized children age 0-21 to include advocating for psychosocial, emotional, physical and cognitive needs. Decreases the anxiety and/or trauma with illness and hospitalization through interventions, which promote play, learning, mastery, self-expression, and peer interaction. Educates staff and the community concerning the developmental needs of hospitalized children, reactions of children to illness and hospitalization, and family centered care. Advocates for policy and standards of care which support the special needs of children and families.

What qualifications you will need:

* Bachelor's degree in Child Life or Child Development and a Child Life internship program of 400-650 hours under a certified Child Life Specialist
* Must be Certified under the specifications for Child Life Certification by the Child Life Council, Inc., or eligible to sit for Child Life Certification exam.
* Must obtain certification within 18 months of hire date.
* American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS provider obtained within 6 months of hire
* Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
