Descripción del puesto:
ERM is looking for an Environmental Coordinator to support projects across the Antwerp region, particularly within industrial, infrastructure, and remediation environments.
In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating environmental compliance and monitoring activities on site, ensuring that operations meet Belgian regulatory requirements, permit conditions, and ERM standards. You will play a key role in managing environmental risks, supporting decision-making, and driving sustainable project delivery.
This is a hands-on, site-based role, well suited to someone who enjoys working close to operations and translating environmental requirements into practical actions.
What You Will Do
* Act as the main environmental point of contact on site, supporting project teams and contractors
* Ensure compliance with Belgian environmental legislation and permit conditions (air, water, waste, emissions)
* Coordinate and oversee environmental monitoring programs (soil, groundwater, air, noise)
* Manage sampling, data collection, and analysis, ensuring quality, traceability, and accurate reporting
* Identify environmental risks and implement mitigation and control measures
* Support waste management and pollution prevention, including hazardous materials handling and disposal
* Contribute to the implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and maintain documentation (e.g. ISO 14001)
* Conduct site inspections and environmental audits, ensuring compliance of contractor activities
* Support incident management (e.g. spills, exceedances) and coordinate follow-up actions
* Contribute to remediation and contamination-related activities (soil, groundwater, PFAS where relevant)
* Prepare regulatory reports and documentation, supporting project and client requirements
* Deliver environmental briefings and training, promoting awareness across site teams
About You
* Experience in an environmental or site-based coordination role, ideally within industrial, construction, or remediation projects
* Solid understanding of environmental compliance, permitting, and monitoring programs
* Familiarity with Belgian environmental regulations; experience in the Antwerp industrial area is a strong advantage
* Knowledge of contaminated land, waste management, or groundwater/soil monitoring is highly valued
* Strong communication skills in Dutch (essential) and English; French is a plus
* A practical, detail-oriented approach, with the ability to manage data and translate requirements into on-site actions
