SCIB is looking for a M&A Associate (Energy) based out of Luca de Tena Office (Madrid)
We're shaping the way we work through innovation, cutting-edge technology, collaboration and the freedom to explore new ideas. To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:
* Taking day-to-day ownership of execution workstreams across M&A and equity-led processes, driving timelines, deliverables and stakeholder coordination across internal and external parties
* Leading, reviewing and steering complex financial models and valuation analyses (operating models, DCFs, merger and accretion/dilution, sensitivities), ensuring outputs are robust, decision-ready and committee-quality
* Owning valuation workstreams using DCF, trading comparables, precedent transactions and other sector-relevant approaches, and translating analysis into clear conclusions and client messaging
* Driving the drafting, structuring and quality control of senior-level client materials (pitch books, strategic reviews, management presentations, information memoranda, board materials and internal approval documents)
* Managing due diligence workstreams and advisor interaction (legal, accounting, consultants), maintaining process discipline, anticipating issues early, and ensuring a clean "run-the-process" cadence
* Supporting senior bankers in client dialogue and strategic analysis, contributing to origination angles, transaction positioning and negotiation readiness
* Developing and maintaining a strong view on EMEA energy and energy transition dynamics (valuation, regulation, capital flows, investor behaviour), proactively sharing actionable insights with the team
* Mentoring and managing Analysts and interns, setting execution standards, reviewing outputs, and ensuring consistently high quality under pressure

Professional Experience
* Prior investment banking experience is required: typically 4-6 years in M&A / Corporate Finance advisory within a leading investment bank or top-tier advisory platform
* Strong live deal execution track record, with demonstrated ability to lead workstreams, manage parallel deliverables and perform under tight timelines
* Proven experience producing and reviewing senior-quality client deliverables and internal committee documentation, with disciplined quality control and attention to detail
* Energy / power / utilities / infrastructure / energy transition exposure is strongly preferred, with credible interest in the sector landscape and transaction drivers
* Strong stakeholder management skills, including comfort interacting with clients and advisors, and working effectively across cross-border/internal teams
Education
* Undergraduate degree with a strong academic track record
Languages
* Fluency in English and Spanish
* Additional European languages (Preferred)
Hard Skills
* Advanced financial modelling and valuation skills, with a strong grasp of accounting and corporate finance fundamentals
* Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills, with the ability to drive a "clean, client-ready" standard across outputs
* Familiarity with Bloomberg, Capital IQ, FactSet, Refinitiv, Mergermarket, Infralogic or similar tools (Preferred)
* Practical understanding of energy-sector valuation considerations (e.g., regulated assets, contracted cash flows, infrastructure-style frameworks) is a plus
Soft Skills
* Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills
* High ownership mindset, reliability under pressure, and strong attention to detail
* Ability to lead, mentor and review junior team members, with a collaborative approach and high professional standards
