The Principal, Scientific Education (Science/Tech/Engineering Path) is primarily responsible for executing the Medical strategy through medical review for assigned products in Alcon's therapeutic domains. Responsible for the scientific accuracy, clinical information, and bio-statistical validity of content and claims in the promotional materials. Assure accuracy and compliance with labelling of promotional and advertising materials in their assigned therapeutic areas. The position may include cross-functional engagement with regional marketing, regulatory, legal and compliance. This position supports Latin America region.

A typical day will include:
* Provide the medical review of promotional and advertising materials in accordance with approved labeling and compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards that support effective and safe use of Alcon products by patients and the medical community
* Provide medical review addressing the scientific accuracy, clinical information, and bio-statistical validity of promotional materials
* Provide medical review of concept/draft advertising and promotional materials
* Remain current with medical literature in assigned therapeutic areas
* Provide accurate and consistent medical review of advertising and promotional materials on time and minimize review cycles for material approval
* Work with cross-functional team supporting review of advertising and promotional materials and with Medical team in assigned therapeutic areas to optimize effectiveness and mitigate risk of promotional claims

What you'll bring to Alcon:
Education
* Advanced degree in medical specialty, or life sciences (OD or MD - ophthalmologist will be preferred; others such as PhD, can be considered on basis of ophthalmological experience)
* Minimum: technical/scientific MS degree in the clinical/life sciences with extensive knowledge in ophthalmic therapeutic area
Experience
* >2 years of experience in a combination of academic or medical device industry experience;
* >2 years of experience in providing medical review of promotional and advertising materials preferred
* Strong understanding of and commitment to compliance including knowledge of ICH, GCP, local and regional guidelines and regulations on interactions with HCPs, and other ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical and/or medical device industry
* Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix leadership environment
* Analytical skills and ability to interpret scientific data correctly
* Strong collaboration and communication skills
Language
* Fluent in Spanish (written and spoken), Portuguese (written and spoken), and English (written and spoken)
