Job Description
What is the opportunity?
This position collaborates with various U.S. and overseas HR/Payroll departments, third-party case managers, and tax firms. The ideal candidate must work efficiently both as a team member and independently, managing multiple priorities simultaneously. All tasks must be handled with strict confidentiality and timeliness while adhering to applicable laws, policies, and regulations. The role demands strong customer service skills-actively listening to employees, understanding their perspectives, and respecting their privacy. Above all, this position takes ownership of issues and sees them through to completion. The role can be high-pressure and demanding during certain periods of the year.

What will you do?
Cross Border/Commuter/Global Payroll:
* Global Payroll employee point of contact for all U.S. employees impacted by the Cross Border Commuting Policy and the Global Assignment Policy for short-term or long-term assignment
* Global Payroll Business Partner point of contact works with tax firms, RBC Cross-Border Advisor, and RBC Global Assignment Advisor as needed to review and take proper action to resolve any issues related to W2, 1042-S, and/or Tax Equalization payments.
* Database maintains listings of employees subject to the Cross-Border Commuting and Global Assignments
* Tax Reporting:
* Expat Billings Payable: process incoming invoices and outgoing wires to reimburse home/host countries monthly, and quarterly, for expatriate (CPP, NIC related) taxes from Canada, and United Kingdom HR/Payroll.
* Provides income and tax Breakdowns to tax firms annually with W2 and 1042S.
* Immigration and Relocation:
* Expat/Inpat COC: request and/or update Certificate of Coverage for US expatriates and provide copies to Weichert and overseas HR/Payroll, as needed. Ensure Inpat COC's are on file also
* FICA Exemption eligibility: ensures non-resident alien employees are FICA exempt on an as needed basis - based on CoC and/or F1/J1 VISA status for appropriate time period, includes Summer Interns.
* Collects benefit salary information from overseas HR/Payroll for permanent transfers into the U.S., obtain exchange rates and calculate data before providing to HRSC.
* Payroll Processing for Cross-Border Commuting and Global Assignments
* Balance Sheet Assignees: ensures accurate payroll processing W2/W2C: update of income and taxes based on direction from tax firm as needed via Payroll System
* General Ledger: Reconciles tax benefit liability account monthly and makes adjustments via payroll system and/or journal entry to clear balances based on reimbursement or write-offs.
* Invoicing payroll costs for expatriate employees including verification, funding, and GL journal entries

* Relocation: in addition to the above.
* Reporting:
* Payroll Processing
* works with 3rd party case managers to ensure new transferee and relocation related payments are processed in payroll system accurately and timely
* Processes all relocation related payments (via payroll and/or A/P) and performs manual gross up calculations, as needed
* Performs year-end relocation tax true ups/downs
* Back up for auditing net payment greater than expected and salary increase greater than 10%
* Back up for 401(K) reconciliation and payment on the monthly and semi-monthly payroll cycles
* Backup for making withholding tax deposits
* Backup on health and welfare invoices and premiums
* earnings and tax withholding gross-ups to internal and external business partners monthly for Cross-Border Commuting and Global Assignees
* Performs quarterly relocation expense reconciliation with Weichert
* Provides 3rd party case managers and tax firms with salary and benefit deductions for balance sheet assignees annually

What do you need to succeed?
* Bachelor's degree
* Five or more years of experience in payroll related activities

Nice-to-Have
* Payroll experience in banking or financial services
* Global payroll responsibilities including cross-boarder commuters
* Experience working in SAP

The expected salary range for this particular position is $55,000-$95,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
