Role Description

We are looking for a Researcher II (core/mid-level) to join our 'Web Core Experience and Platforms' teams.

As a Researcher in this area, you'll closely collaborate with a Senior researcher and with your multidisciplinary product teams to gather insights about the needs of travelers ánd our internal users. The insights will be used to improve the experience that travelers see on the homepage and in other parts of the traveler journey while booking a trip (e.g. a flight, accommodation or a rental car). It will all help us build the future of a personalized 'Connected Trip' experience where multiple parts of travel can be booked directly with Booking.com.
Your work inspires cross-functional teams on current product improvements and informs new products. You will also work with internal users, better understanding our engineers' needs and customer journey, so that we can build better processes to help our end-customers.
You are an experienced communicator. You bring solid experience in research methods across several phases of the product life-cycle. You have excellent knowledge of experimental design and one or more primary research methods (ex. surveys, diary studies and interviews) as well as secondary & expert methods (such as literature reviews, cognitive walkthroughs and desk research). You are comfortable pursuing autonomous and independent activities, along with working with Senior Researchers to develop and grow.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties

* Provide insights, conduct independent research, collect and analyse behaviour through a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods, and help translate these insights and trends into product improvements.
* Build strong collaboration with and facilitate and influence discussions within multidisciplinary teams, including Product, UX, Marketing, Strategy, Analytics and Engineering, to validate and identify trends and connections across data sources and connect disparate data points across customer insights and other business data.
* Support a user-centered design approach by collaborating closely with your UX and product team and others in the business.
* Be the users' advocate, ensuring their needs are central to design and development decisions.
* Take guidance from Seniors within the business to improve on research quality, and other craft improvements.
* Test out new ways of gathering consumer insights through new research tools or mixing methods.

Role Qualifications and Requirements

* 3+ years' (UX) research delivery in a consultancy, agency or in-house setting
* Masters or PhD in psychology, social sciences, HCI, Statistics, Economics or a related quantitative or qualitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
* Experience with primary and secondary research methods
* Experience with designing and implementing (UX) Research projects with a great degree of autonomy
* Knowledge and practical experience of using a variety of (UX) research methods (qualitative and quantitative), with a strong awareness of their merits and weaknesses.
* Strong analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to distill the output of complex and disparate datasets
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* Working knowledge of statistical analysis software, such as SPSS, R or JMP

The 'Web Core Experience and Platforms' teams have a mission to create relevant and modern traveler experiences which make every trip easy, seamless and enjoyable. We do this by investing in personalization opportunities, like recommendations, improving our UX and by creating a platform that makes it easier for our internal stakeholders and business units to create personalized experiences for our travelers. The teams also focus on making our product development processes more efficient by using smarter, faster capabilities.
