Come and build how Spotify talks, listens, and learns. We are seeking a Staff Designer to lead all aspects of building and composing natural language prompts and conversational experiences on Spotify's products driven by AI.

This position resides where language, interaction, and intelligence converge - the meeting point of inventing and machine learning. You'll define how Spotify's AI systems connect with users, crafting experiences that feel natural, expressive, and unmistakably Spotify.

What You'll Do

* Design the Future of AI Interaction: Own the evolution of Spotify's approach to content and conversation design, developing scalable methodologies for designing with and for AI. Design, refine, and evaluate prompts that power generative and conversational AI experiences, ensuring outputs feel authentic, useful, and aligned with Spotify's values and tone. Define the voice, tone, and personality systems that guide how Spotify's AI communicates.
* Build and Experiment: Prototype and experiment directly with large language models, exploring behaviors, capabilities, and creative potential. Develop frameworks and metrics to evaluate and optimise prompting quality, performance, and user impact. Collaborate with engineering, product, research, and data science to integrate AI into cohesive, human-centred experiences.
* Lead and Elevate: Champion ethical, inclusive, and responsible AI communication, ensuring language supports user trust and understanding. Mentor and coach other designers and writers, strengthening our Prompt Design fluency and technical literacy across Spotify. Contribute to internal tools, libraries, and Design Systems that make AI Prompt Design more efficient and scalable.

Who You Are

* A senior or staff-level designer experienced in Content Design, UX writing, Interaction Design, or AI Product Design.
* Proficient in how language crafts UX, comfortable with structured data or model outputs (LLMs, APIs, JSON, YAML, Python).
* Experienced in Prompt Design, testing, and optimization; using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
* Thrilled by ambiguity and invention - able to bring transparency and structure to new, fast-evolving problem spaces.
* A problem solver and collaborator, equally comfortable discussing product strategy and modelling behaviour.
* Knowledgeable about accessibility, localisation, and safety in digital communication.
* Motivated by defining new frontiers at the intersection of design, technology, and language.

Where You'll Be

* We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! For this role, you can be within the EMEA region as long as we have a work location (excluding France due to on-call restrictions).
* This team operates within the Central European and GMT time zone for collaboration
