Software Engineering Technical Leader - Isovalent Private Networking

About this role:
Isovalent, now part of Cisco, is seeking a research engineer in EMEA to join our Isovalent Networking for Virtualization engineering team. As a research engineer, you create and lead exploratory initiatives to drive innovation while also working on roadmap items together with the team. You're eager to dive headfirst into complex problems, resourceful in finding novel approaches to overcome them, and capable of clearly communicating your ideas.

What you'll do:
* Identify fruitful directions for exploratory and innovative work
* Lead medium- to long-term projects to translate innovative ideas into shipped products in collaboration with engineering teams
* Develop high-quality Go and eBPF code for Cilium open-source and Enterprise edition codebases
* Collaborate on architecture and design of distributed systems
* Possibility to speak at public conferences about achievements (if desired)

Minimum Qualifications:
* Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
* Strong communication skills and proven ability to work in collaborative environments
* Mastery of any of Go/Rust/C/C++/Zig or other systems programming language
* Ability and desire to write high quality and efficient code
* Experience in research-oriented environments
* Experience in Linux systems design and networking
* Experience in design and implementation of distributed systems

Preferred Qualifications:
* PhD in Computer Science, or equivalent experience as a research engineer
* Experience with Go and/or eBPF
* Experience with Kubernetes and writing code to interact with Kubernetes
* Experience with Cilium Kubernetes CNI
* Experience in technical leadership roles
* Experience in public speaking at technical conferences
