Location: The position is based at our Halifax location; internship from Monday to Friday, with flexible hours and exclusively on-site.

Why join our team?
The Engineering Intern will support the Maintenance Reliability Engineer in enhancing equipment reliability and overall plant performance. This role focuses on analyzing asset criticality, applying reliability and failure analysis methodologies, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The intern will leverage data analysis and maintenance best practices to optimize operational efficiency and reduce downtime. Additionally, the role involves supporting health and safety audit preparation to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.

What will your day-to-day look like?
* Conduct plant-wide equipment criticality assessments to classify assets based on risk and operational impact
* Perform Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) on critical equipment, using tailored approaches for high-priority assets and standardized methods for others
* Analyze plant performance using Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metrics to identify gaps and improvement opportunities
* Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to support the execution of reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
* Assist in preparing for Health and Safety audits, ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal requirements
* Support waste management initiatives, including proper handling, reduction, and disposal in compliance with environmental standards

What do you need to be successful?
* Be eligible to work in Canada.
* Be enrolled in a Canadian university throughout your internship.
* Be able to work on-site in the province where you are hired if applicable.
* Pursuing studies in Mechanical, Industrial, or a related Engineering discipline
* Familiarity with reliability tools such as FMEA, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and preventive maintenance strategies
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data analysis
* Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams
