Overview

A Combination of on-the-job training and related classroom instruction in which apprentices learn the practical and theoretical aspects of the designated trade. Apprentices need to do a trade test at the end of their training at the accredited Trade Centres.
The Millwright Apprentice will learn and apply combined knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and computer (including AI) systems used in industrial automation and robotics. This role involves hands-on training, classroom instruction, and on-the-job experience to develop skills in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining automated systems.
Responsibilities

* Undergoing learner readiness (Pre-learning) assessments as and when required.
* RPL assessment process
* Gap Training and Final Assessment ( Trade Test)
* Attend all the training classes according training schedule (days and times)
* Submit, within the agreed time frames of the training programme, all assignments.
* Must complete the programme (classroom training, submissions, practical application)
* Ensure that he/she does not miss any session(s) or neglect any responsibilities as a learner without any serious cause.
* Willing to co-sign with the line manager the letter of commitment to the training
* Promptly communicate any learning concerns to the course facilitator and HR personnel
Key Responsibilities/ Learning areas
* Installation & Maintenance
* Assist in installing mechanical and electrical equipment.
* Perform routine maintenance on mechatronic systems.
* Troubleshooting
* Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
* Work with PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and actuators.
* Fabrication & Assembly
* Operate machine shop tools to produce precision parts.
* Weld and join components as required.
* Documentation
* Maintain accurate records of work performed.
* Follow safety and compliance standards.
* Learning & Development
* Attend classroom and lab training sessions.
* Complete assignments, tests, and practical projects.
* Participate in mentorship and coaching sessions.

Qualifications

* Education: Matric/Grade 12 certificate or equivalent. N3 in mechanical and electrical engineering studies
* Age: Minimum 18 years.
* Physical: Ability to lift up to 12 - 25 kg and work in industrial environments.
* Other: Medical fitness is compulsory.
* Mechanical aptitude test may be required.
