Job purpose / role
Allianz Re acts as Allianz Group's portfolio manager. Ceded Reinsurance is a powerful tool to steer the magnitude and composition of our global portfolio. The Group Ceded Reinsurance Team within Allianz Re aligns the Group's risk appetite, defines and implements the Group reinsurance strategy. We use retrocession to manage exposures within the Group risk appetite and optimize the risk reward relationship.
You are an Executive Ceded Reinsurance Manager expert in the Group Ceded Reinsurance team who will drive the evolution of Allianz Group's outgoing reinsurance landscape in order to enable Allianz Re to act as the portfolio manager within the Allianz Group. You will report to the Global Head of Group Ceded Reinsurance.
Key responsibilities
* You will define, design, and continuously optimize Allianz Group's reinsurance and retrocession strategy, ensuring alignment with the Group's risk appetite, capital objectives, and overall business strategy.
* You will hold full accountability for the structuring and placement of Group-wide reinsurance and retrocession programs with global reinsurers and capital market partners.
* You will set and steer target reinsurance pricing, lead high-stakes negotiations with global brokers and reinsurers, and ensure optimized commercial outcomes for the Group.
* You will act as a senior relationship owner, building and maintaining long-term strategic partnerships with reinsurers, investors, and global reinsurance brokers.
* You will play a key advisory role to the Group Retrocession Committee, including strategic preparation, alignment with Group Risk, and recommendation of decision-ready proposals.
* You will ensure effective cross-functional leadership and alignment across Allianz Re Underwriting and Client Management, Allianz Operating Entities, and Allianz SE Group Centers.
* You will lead, coordinate, and facilitate the annual strategic meetings with Allianz's global reinsurance brokers, setting agendas and driving outcomes.
* You will brief and advise Allianz SE Board members and Allianz Re Functional Board members, preparing senior leadership for major international reinsurance negotiations and market events (e.g. Monte Carlo, Baden-Baden).
* You will oversee complex data analyses related to Group reinsurance cessions, portfolio performance, and global broker remuneration, translating insights into strategic recommendations.
* You will manage complex stakeholder situations, proactively resolving conflicts, addressing resistance, and escalating issues where required.
Experience & Key skills
* Demonstrated senior leadership and influencing capabilities within a global, matrixed organization across functions and cultures.
* Strategic, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to drive initiatives independently and take ownership of outcomes.
* Deep domain expertise in the re-/insurance industry, including advanced reinsurance techniques and in-depth knowledge of reinsurance wordings.
* Strong project and change management experience, including the ability to manage multiple complex workstreams.
* Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, with confidence in engaging senior executives and external partners.
* Strong analytical and conceptual thinking, combined with a clear strategic orientation.
* Highly developed diplomatic, consulting, and relationship-management skills.
* Performance-driven, self-motivated, and resilient, with a proven track record of proactive problem-solving.
* Proven ability to engage with and influence key decision-makers, including Executive Board-level stakeholders.
