Lead High-Impact Energy Transformation for Global Clients
As an Engagement Manager within ERM's Energy Markets Advisory (EMA) team, you will guide multinational organizations through some of the most strategic and complex decisions in today's energy transition. You'll lead teams, shape renewable energy strategies, drive major commercial negotiations, and influence how global corporations accelerate decarbonization-all from EMA's rapidly growing European hub in Madrid.
Your impact:
Analytics & Problem Solving
* Apply EMA's full suite of analytical frameworks-including financial analysis and quantitative modeling-to guide client strategy, procurement, and decision-making.
* Build, refine, and adapt detailed Excel models simulating a range of energy solution outcomes.
* Review and elevate models and analyses completed by team members to ensure quality and efficiency.
* Lead transaction-related due diligence processes from end to end.
* Develop hypotheses to guide analytical work for yourself and junior team members.
* Lead and strengthen client-specific problem solving to deliver optimal solutions.
* Make several new contributions to EMA analytics each year and transfer knowledge across the team.
Communication
* Synthesize client conversations into clear deliverables, structured outputs, and actionable next steps.
* Develop well-organized storylines and logical client-ready presentations; support junior team members in storyboard creation.
* Communicate complex concepts succinctly to empower client decision-making.
* Review and refine team deliverables to ensure they meet EMA's high standards before delivery.
Teamwork & People Leadership
* Lead EMA and client teams in person and via video calls during progress and decision-making meetings.
* Create highly productive team environments and proactively resolve team issues.
* Engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels-from project team members to C-suite executives.
* Coach and develop team members at all levels, helping them grow skills and achieve promotions.
Client & Impact Delivery
* Lead client-side change-management efforts, identifying roadblocks and designing solutions to maintain project momentum.
* Support and at times lead contract negotiations with counterparties on behalf of clients.
* Synthesize client dialogue into key priorities; build effective work plans and mobilize internal and client resources.
* Deliver high-impact outcomes across projects with limited need for senior oversight.
Entrepreneurial & Thought Leadership
* Identify and cultivate new commercial opportunities across past, current, and prospective clients.
* Lead pipeline development, proposal creation, and broader business development activities (with leadership support).
* Collaborate with EMA leadership to shape service offering evolution, market strategy, and organizational priorities.
* Lead internal initiatives to expand team capabilities and expertise.
* Produce thought leadership through client projects several times per year.
What you bring:
* MBA or other Master's degree with a proven confirmed relevant work experience.
* Prior experience in one or more required areas:
* Renewables, energy, or infrastructure development industries
* Energy commodity markets (electricity, gas, fuels)
* Consulting, investment banking, PE/VC, project finance, economics, or engineering
* Strong passion for sustainability and the energy industry.
* Comfort with complex quantitative and qualitative analyses.
* Ability to learn quickly, even when entering new technical or market areas.
* Strong oral and written communication skills; able to simplify complex topics.
* Strong interpersonal skills across a range of backgrounds and seniority levels.
* High sense of ownership, self-motivation, and ability to deliver under tight deadlines in a growth-focused environment.
* Demonstrated project and team leadership with a track record of delivering impactful results.
* Creative, structured problem-solving capability.
* Honest, collaborative, and fun to work with.
Candidates' must be located in Madrid, with an expectation of attending the office at least 4 days a week.
