Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an A&P Certified Flight Test Tech 2/3 to join the team of qualified individuals. Position is located in either Palmdale, CA or Edwards AFB, CA. The candidate should be a self-starter with familiarity working in an Integrated Product Team construct.
Key Responsibilities:
* Performs developmental, experimental, and production aircraft maintenance and engineering support, including repair, modification, installation, testing, checkout, fabrication, and assembly of electrical/electronic, mechanical, instrumentation, and electro-mechanical systems, prototypes, and specialized test equipment (analog, digital, and/or video circuits and logic systems).
* Instructs, coordinates, and performs Flight Test duties in area(s) of assignment and determines the sequence for installing, removing, maintaining, repairing, or fabricating critical aircraft components and systems.
* Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, and maintains complex aircraft equipment, components, devices, and systems; performs operational and environmental tests; diagnoses and isolates malfunctions down to the component level; and conducts defined engineering tests while collecting required data.
* Works from incomplete engineering/electronic data, blueprints, engineering drawings/orders, schematics, technical orders, repair manuals, layouts, diagrams, and written/verbal instructions.
* Performs drilling, reaming, fitting, assembly, trimming, riveting, splicing, insulating, and other associated duties as assigned.
* Notifies lead personnel/supervision of malfunctions, defects, and damage; checks work for completeness and accuracy; and performs Production Accountability duties including processing, verification, quality auditing, and inspection of delegated assemblies, parts, and tooling.
* Excludes trainees with no academic preparation or experience.
* Travel up to 25% may be required.
* May perform other related duties as assigned.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position.
Selected Candidate must be willing to work various shifts depending on the business needs: 4x10 schedule (Mon-Thurs) 1st shift; 4x10 (Mon-Thurs) 2nd shift; 3x10 schedule (Fri, Sat, Sun) 2nd shift; 3x10 schedule (Fri, Sat, Sun) 1st shift.

Basic Qualifications for Level 2:
* Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2 years of related professional/military experience.
Basic Qualifications for Level 3:
* Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent AND 4 years of related professional/military experience.
Basic Qualifications for Both Levels:
* FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License
* Must have an active US Government Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
* Must have the ability to obtain and maintain US Government Top Secret clearance
* Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
* Note: SAP/PAR will be upgraded once selected candidate is in role. Therefore, candidate must also be able to obtain and maintain upgraded SAP/PAR.)
* Experience working in a production or test environment
* Familiar with aspects of systems test
* Must be able to lift 30lbs
* Must be able to work from extended work platforms at elevated heights and for extended period of time
* Must be able to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 40 pounds, and working overhead.
* Must be able to access small, confined spaces and work in an enclosed environment.
* Basic computer proficiency (MS, Word, Excel, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications:
* Active DoD Top Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
* Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
* Demonstrates good soldering and crimp skills, able to fabricate cables and harnesses against engineering drawings and parts lists.
* Possessing solder & crimp certifications a plus.
* Familiarity with testing & troubleshooting using appropriate test equipment in a system environment incorporating various data interfaces such as Ethernet, 1553, ARINC, RS-488, 232, etc. a plus.
* Be proficient with hand tools and small power tools
Primary Level Salary Range: $56,000.00 - $93,400.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $66,600.00 - $111,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
