About the role
We are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Assistant to join our Kerry Team in Listowel, Co. Kerry.
This is a full-time, seasonal role. Hours of work are 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday with one weekend on one weekend off. By prior arrangement, an occasional 12-hour day and night shift cover may be required.
In this exciting position, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest quality standards of our Kerry products by testing and analysing their various aspects, such as physical, chemical, microbiological, functional, and sensory.
Where will you work?
Listowel is where Kerry Dairy Ireland originated. The site has one of the largest facilities in Kerry, where we process large quantities of milk to produce range of products, like Dairy Proteins, Primary Dairy Ingredients, Dairy Flavours and more. The site has onsite parking and canteen. It's conveniently located close to N69 road and it's 20 minutes by walk from the Listowel town centre.
What will you be doing?
Your responsibilities as the Laboratory Assistant will include:
* Analysing raw materials, in process and finished product samples.
* Testing products properties such as physical, chemical, microbiological, functional, sensory.
* Conducting proficiency testing within the scope of lab accreditations.
* Recording date generated in SAP and other system.
* Following the Kerry Policy - Safety First, Quality Aways.
* Performing other responsibilities as assigned from time to time.
What do you need to be successful?
* Previous food or dairy laboratory testing experience preferred.
* Demonstrated knowledge of the product specifications, plant processes and products preferred.
* Knowledge of the Quality Management Systems.
* An excellent understanding of Good Laboratory Practice.
* Previous manufacturing experience is desirable, but not essential.
* A third level qualification in a science related discipline or lab experience.
* Proficient in the use of MS Office tools. Knowledge in LIMS, SAP system would be an advantage.
* Being well organised and systematic.
* Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Strong analytical skills.
* Ability to be flexible and adaptable to respond to changing demands.
