Nutricia Research Centre for Specialized Nutrition, located in the Utrecht Science Park in the Netherlands is a state-of-the-art Life Science Innovation Centre for the development of new product concepts for Specialised Nutrition. We create formulas that provide clinically substantiated health benefits to vulnerable consumers throughout the life stages.

Within the Specialised Nutrition R&I (SN R&I) division we have a permanent position for a Product Design & Development Manager to join the Specialised Paediatric Liquids Team.

About the Job
You will work in cross-functional project teams to deliver new product innovations and renovations to the Global market. You will be the Research & Innovation (R&I) voice in project teams. You​ will work with a variety of stakeholders ranging from Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, Medical, Science, Specification Management, Advanced Technology, IRO Project Leaders, Process Technology, User Experience as well as internal factories and external stakeholders including suppliers and 3rd party manufacturers. You will report to the Team Leader for Specialised Paediatrics Liquids and you will be part of a team that is located in both Utrecht (NL) and Liverpool (UK). This position will be based in the Netherlands.
Main responsibilities:
* Be the technical lead within the technical stages of formulation design and development up to commercialisation of a new product innovation/renovation.
* Work closely with Specification Management on raw material selection
* Work closely together with stakeholders such as Supply Points, Pilot Plants on trials and align on the results.
* Able to look critically at the current product development process, challenge the status quo and capture relevant learnings.
* Able to anticipate risks and challenges and to proactively propose solutions.
* Be flexible and prepared to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
* Ensure formulations follow robust design principles, risk mitigations are in place, and all documentation in line with SN ways of working is completed.
* Create prototypes/ samples in the exploration phase of projects to drive critical business decisions.
* Create lab and/or pilot plant prototypes in line with key success criteria and brief requirements.

You are a team player who can easily connect with cross functional departments and manage stakeholders effectively. You have strong communication skills to communicate across all levels of the business and can easily build effective working relationships. For this role it is important to have a proactive attitude with a strong eye for detail. Moreover, we value outspoken curiosity and the drive to challenge the status-quo.

In addition, you fit this role perfectly because you are/ have:
* Minimum 2 years' experience in Product Development or Nutritional Sciences, preferably in Medical Nutrition.
* MSC Degree or higher in Food Science/ Technology or Nutritional Sciences.
* Proficiency using systems and processes for formulation design and documentation.
* Experience with product design and development based on consumer insights.
* Proactive in work and communication.
* Strong stakeholder management skills.
* A team player with a collaborative approach.
* A problem-solving mindset - quick to analyse complex issues and propose pragmatic solutions with concrete action plans through critical thinking.
* Can deal with changing priorities, manage uncertainty and deal with complexity in a dynamic organisation.
* Is fluent in English, both verbal and written.
