We have an exciting opportunity for a Packaging Specialist, to join our Nestlé Waters & Premium Beverages, team based at our state-of-the-art production facility in Buxton, Derbyshire.

Your Impact
The Packaging Specialist plays a crucial role in developing and implementing innovative packaging solutions that meet both Nestlé's and external compliance standards. This position is responsible for collaborating with various teams to ensure that packaging processes are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with the company's sustainability goals. The Packaging Specialist acts as a knowledge resource within their area of expertise, supporting factories and marketing teams in achieving optimal packaging performance.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Packaging Development: Lead packaging development projects from concept to industrialisation, focusing on production line performance, cost efficiency, timely delivery, and product quality.
* Project Management: Manage packaging-specific projects and provide detailed input during key project stages within the gate approval process.
* Technical Support and Knowledge Transfer: Act as a technical resource for the Buxton factory, providing comprehensive support for packaging-related queries and ensuring effective knowledge transfer regarding packaging materials and processes. Act as the main technical contact with Packaging Suppliers.
* Process Optimisation: Contribute to projects aimed at optimising current products and processes, implementing improved packaging specifications to enhance cost savings and efficiency.
* Collaboration and Training: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D and marketing, to evaluate and propose the best packaging alternatives.
* Packaging Specification & Data Management: Responsible for managing packaging material specifications, overseeing the approval process both internally and externally, and providing input for master data completion related to packaging materials, including dimensional information for other functions.
Your ingredients for success
The role of Packaging Specialist requires an understanding of packaging science and engineering. Academic qualifications in a relevant STEM subject such as a degree in Packaging, Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or Materials Science are essential. Candidates should also possess a comprehensive grasp of manufacturing processes and quality assurance standards.
Skills and Experience:
* Essential Qualifications: A degree or relevant experience in Packaging, Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a Packaging Diploma.
* Manufacturing Knowledge: Working knowledge of manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain quality systems, including food safety and quality management systems.
* Compliance Understanding: Detailed understanding of packaging safety, quality, and compliance requirements, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
* Project Management Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple development projects from concept to launch, demonstrating strong project management skills and experience in influencing business strategies.
* Continuous Improvement: Proactive involvement in continuous improvement initiatives, with the ability to challenge peers and escalate issues when necessary.
