Global Lights (GLights) Trading & Origination is part of the Supply, Trading and Shipping (ST&S) sector of bp. GLights trades multiple commodities around the world such
as gasoline, naphtha, ethanol, NGLs and petrochemicals. We have traders and originators in London, Chicago, Singapore and Houston in addition to representatives in regional offices throughout the world.

The Lights Trading Exposure Lead will be a hands-on role that provides deep experience and capability to bp's trading business. We're looking for someone with a deep understanding of trading exposure management to deliver value to the trading books. This role opens pathways into future roles in leadership or senior individual contributor posts across commercial or interfacing group functions.

About the Role
The Exposure Lead works alongside a team of commercial analysts to ensure accurate and timely deal capture and exposure reporting for the Lights trading desk, enabling key commercial activity.

You will bring technical expertise to the team, supporting traders in monetizing commercial value through structured trading activities. This includes being the SME for multifaceted exposure issues, post-deal management for complex transactions, and analytical and technical support for new business projects and integrations.

You will play a key role in developing commercial analyst capabilities and driving the team's performance.

The position is based in London, working closely with regional traders, support functions, and commercial peers across Chicago, Singapore, Houston and ST&S RSOs.

Key Accountabilities
* Working with their team lead to deliver exceptional support in the exposure management activity set for Lights, driving the team of analysts to delivery bench strategy and ensuring alignment with functional leads
* Own daily exposure management for assigned portfolio(s); act as the main escalation point for book leads
* Work with the team lead to identify the commercial analyst team's development needs and deliver this support, including onboarding and training of new joiners
* Support analysts in delivering daily exposure, daily P&L, and other commercial activities aligned to bench strategy
* Oversee issue resolution within daily validation and regional handover processes, ensuring adherence to standard methodologies and internal policy
* Champion continuous improvement efforts to simplify and streamline processes across Front Office, Commodity Risk and beyond
* Provide coverage support across the analyst team as required
* Collaborate with team lead to implement and embed new ways of working across the team
* Be a role model for the professional standards of the Lights exposure team, with a key focus on compliance, demonstrating clear and professional communication and building best in class relationships with our functional partners

Essential Experience and Job Requirements
* Deep experience in commodity trading, ideally from either a trading/commercial analyst or commodity risk role
* Strong knowledge of commodity markets, trading strategies, value generation, and risk management
* Technical understanding of physical trading strategies
* Ability to resolve complex issues using sound commercial judgement
* Self-directed with strong prioritization and organizational skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders across a fast-paced trading environment
* A strong sense of ownership and accountability, with a commitment to team wellbeing and safety
* Enthusiasm for working across diverse teams and acting as a connector across fields
* A proactive and solutions-oriented mentality, with a record of solving business problems
* Interest in applying innovation and analytics to commercial challenges
