Compliance Officer
Diagnostics and Secondary Care Within Bupa
Hybrid Role
Permanent Full Time (37.5hrs)

How you'll help us make health happen
In this role, you'll ensure our hospitals operate safely, transparently and in line with key regulations. Acting as a central compliance expert, you'll provide clear, practical oversight of CMA and PHIN requirements across multiple sites.

You'll work closely with hospital leaders to turn complex regulations into workable actions, supporting quality care and strong operational performance. From maintaining accurate compliance evidence to delivering insightful reports, your work will drive consistency, accountability and risk awareness.

By promoting a positive compliance culture, supporting inspections and identifying emerging risks, you'll help protect our patients, people and reputation-playing a vital role in helping us make health happen every day.

Key Responsibilities:
* Act as the primary compliance lead for CMA and PHIN requirements across all hospital sites
* Maintain oversight of regulatory compliance, ensuring accurate and up-to-date evidence across the estate
* Coordinate and submit mandatory PHIN data returns and support responses to regulatory requests
* Track and manage consultant contracts, ensuring alignment with CMA and IR35 requirements
* Monitor and record consultant-related expenditure, including hospitality and entertainment
* Produce clear, evidence-based compliance reports for senior leadership and governance forums
* Identify, escalate and support resolution of compliance risks, breaches and emerging issues
* Support site leaders with inspection readiness, audits and post-inspection action plans
* Develop and maintain consistent compliance policies and frameworks across multiple sites
* Deliver risk-based assurance activity, identifying trends and driving continuous improvement
* Provide practical guidance and constructive challenge to stakeholders at all levels
* Promote a positive compliance culture focused on quality, safety and transparency

Key Skills / Qualifications:
* Experience in compliance, governance, risk, quality or assurance within healthcare or a highly regulated environment
* Strong working knowledge of regulatory requirements, ideally including the CMA Order and PHIN
* Experience supporting multiple sites or business units, with exposure to senior stakeholder engagement
* Ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into clear, practical guidance
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to produce concise, evidence-based reports
* Confident communicator, able to influence and challenge stakeholders at all levels
* Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
* Proven ability to work independently within a lean, fast-paced environment
* Sound judgement to balance compliance requirements with commercial and operational needs
* Resilient, adaptable and solution-focused approach
Desirable:
* Experience within the independent hospital or private healthcare sector
* Involvement in inspections, audits or regulatory reviews
* Professional qualification in compliance, governance, risk, audit or health & safety
