Your team

You will be part of the Directorate Administration within the ECB's Directorate General Corporate Services. The Directorate Administration consists of three divisions providing a wide range of services, including technical facility and real estate management, logistics and infrastructure services as well as security and safety services. We are working to reduce the ECB's operational environmental impact and to continuously improve our services, making them more sustainable, innovative and people-focused.

In your role as a trainee in the Administrative Services Division, you will be part of a diverse team of around 60 members of staff who place high value on collaboration, service and solution orientation, creativity and curiosity. Together with our external service providers, we provide a wide range of customer-oriented services, e.g. business travel, catering, meeting and event services, interpretation, cleaning and logistics. Our environmental management team - known as "the Green ECB team" - oversees the maintenance and development of the ECB's Environmental Management System.

Depending on your academic qualifications, your area of expertise and - where possible - your preferences, you will be assigned to one of the services teams or the Green ECB team, working closely with our stakeholders and service providers.

The ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. We encourage you to apply irrespective of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or other characteristics.

Your role

As a trainee in the Administrative Services Division, you will:

* conduct research, draft reports and compile, analyse and visualise data;
* prepare and deliver presentations;
* engage with service end users across the ECB.

Depending on the team you join, you may:

* support the team's service and supplier performance management and contribute to continuous improvement and change management processes;
* build on your writing, storytelling, analytical and presentation skills to design internal communication activities and create meaningful materials about our services tailored to the needs of different internal audiences, e.g. service providers, staff, (senior) managers and the Executive Board;
* contribute to environmental management activities, the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) and the ISO 14001 certification process.

The traineeship offers you excellent opportunities to learn and contribute to services and activities that have a direct impact on the work environment of ECB staff, and to support the ECB in delivering on its mandate. You will receive mentorship from experienced colleagues, gain hands-on service experience and take responsibility for a variety of tasks across our service areas. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.

Qualifications, experience and skills

Essential:

* a bachelor's degree or higher in facility management, business or public administration, international relations, travel management, environmental and sustainability management, environmental protection, communications, event management, supply chain management, logistics, engineering, economics, econometrics, finance, information technology or another relevant field;
* a service-orientated mindset and a demonstrable interest in sustainable services management, e.g. environmental considerations, processes, supplier and stakeholder management and reporting;
* experience in analysing data, drafting reports and visualising information, and some knowledge and experience of relevant tools;
* an advanced knowledge of the MS Office package;
* an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Desired:

* knowledge and some practical experience in one or more of the following fields: service management, communications, quality assurance, supplier/contract management, stakeholder management, hospitality services, event management, process management, facility management standards, business and data analysis, budget planning and reporting;
* experience in producing communication deliverables (such as presentations, infographics and articles);
* familiarity with the requirements of relevant environmental standards and regulations, e.g. ISO 14001, EMAS and ISO 14064;
* an analytical and innovative mindset;
* experience in analysing business data and knowledge of tools for data management and analysis.

You are curious and eager to learn, and want to further develop your ability to analyse complex information. You are keen to collaborate with others, pursue team goals and learn from other people's diverse perspectives. You strive to know and anticipate stakeholder needs, and will signal any need for change and propose alternative solutions.

You are motivated to contribute to the ECB's mission, to serve the citizens of the EU as a member of a public institution and to work with colleagues from all over Europe. You are keen to be part of our team and to use your skills and competencies to achieve the aims of this position.
