About The Team

The security team at ByteDance is missioned to build infrastructures, platforms and technologies, as well as to support cross-functional teams to protect our users, products and infrastructures. In this team you'll have a unique opportunity to have first-hand exposure to the strategy of the company in key security initiatives, especially in building scalable and secure-by-design systems and solutions. Our challenges are not your regular day-to-day technical problems; you'll be part of a team that's developing new solutions to new challenges of a kind not previously addressed by big tech. We are looking for talented individuals to join us for an internship in 2024. Internships at ByteDance aim to offer students industry exposure and hands-on experience. Watch your ambitions become reality as your inspiration brings infinite opportunities at ByteDance.

Successful candidates must be able to commit to the following internship cycle below:

* Summer Internship - 06 May 2024 to 26 July 2024 (12 weeks)

We will prioritize candidates who are able to commit in either internship period. Please state your availability clearly in your resume (Start date, End date).

Responsibilities

* Design and develop cloud-native security services and infrastructure such as Identity, Access Management, and Key Management System as a foundation for production infrastructure security.
* Design and build large-scale detection and classification systems such as email spam classification systems, or risk-based authentication systems.
* Identify areas of security weakness and find ways to minimize security risks.

Qualifications

* Undergraduate, or Postgraduate currently pursuing a Degree/Master/PhD in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
* Excellent programming, debugging, and optimization skills in one or more general purpose programming languages
* Solid security background with good understanding of at least two security domains, such as data security, application security, cryptography, systems security, and network security
* Creative problem-solving skills and excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills.
* Strong written/verbal communication and excellent teamwork skills; flexible and be a self-starter.
