Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations General Assembly resolution 71/251 established the Technology Bank for the Least Developed Countries (UN Technology Bank) to strengthen science, technology and innovation (STI) capacities in Least Developed Countries (LDCs). The UN Technology Bank supports LDCs in identifying, adopting, and scaling technologies to advance sustainable development, structural transformation, and productive capacities. Within the framework of the Doha Programme of Action (2021-2030), the UN Technology Bank conducts Technology Needs Assessments (TNAs) to identify national priorities, technological gaps, and opportunities for innovation-driven development. The internship aims to support the digitalization, analysis, and operational use of TNA results by contributing to the development of digital tools, analytical outputs, and research products that strengthen evidence-based project development and technology deployment in LDCs. Under the supervision of an Economic Affairs Officer, the intern will support analytical, digital, and research activities related to digital transformation and emerging technologies. The intern will undertake the following tasks: Digital Dashboard and Data Platform Development * Support the design and development of a digital dashboard or data platform consolidating TNA findings across countries. * Assist in structuring datasets, indicators, and metadata derived from TNAs. * Contribute to organizing qualitative and quantitative TNA outputs into accessible digital formats. * Support visualization of technology needs, sectoral priorities, and cross-country trends through dashboards and analytical tools. * Assist in maintaining and updating digital repositories of TNA-related information. Development of Use Cases for Digital and Emerging Technologies * Conduct analytical work to identify practical use cases for digital and emerging technologies aligned with priority sectors identified in TNAs. * Develop concept briefs illustrating applications of technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital platforms, data systems, and other emerging technologies in LDC contexts. * Map technology solutions to development challenges, including public service delivery, productive sectors, climate resilience, and economic transformation. * Support preparation of case studies and knowledge products showcasing scalable technology applications. Research Supporting Digital Transformation Project Development * Conduct desk research and policy analysis related to digital transformation strategies, innovation ecosystems, and technology adoption in LDCs. * Compile background materials, data, and analytical inputs for project concept notes and technical cooperation proposals. * Assist in drafting briefing notes, analytical summaries, and presentations supporting programme development. * Monitor global trends and best practices related to digital transformation and emerging technologies relevant to LDC priorities. * Contribute to research outputs supporting partnerships and resource mobilization efforts. General Support * Attend meetings and prepare summaries and analytical notes. * Assist in preparing presentations, communication materials, and internal knowledge products. * Support coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders where required. * Perform other related duties as requested, consistent with the intern's background and learning objectives. Qualifications/special skills
* Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree, equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree (bachelor's degree or equivalent). * Applicants enrolled or who have completed their degree in a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is an advantage. * Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. * Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PH.D. Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency of English and a knowledge of French is required. Fluency of French is desirable for this internship.

The cover Note must include: - Title of the degree; - Graduation date (when will you be graduating from the programme, if not yet graduated); - List the IT skills and programmes that you are proficient in; - Explain why you are the best candidate for the internship position. Intern Specific text
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
