To support the advancement of our antibody engineering efforts, argenx is seeking a highly motivated and hands-on associate scientist to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will play a crucial role in providing technical expertise and supporting the in vitro validation of cutting-edge ML/AI tools, as well as optimizing and implementing new workflows in protein production, potency, developability and affinity assessments across the R&D pipeline. The role is based in our facility in Zwijnaarde, Belgium. Daily presence on site is expected.

Key Responsibilities

* Co-develop and implement optimized workflows for protein production, potency, developability assays, and affinity assessments. Ensuring that these processes are efficient, highly standardized and reliable, and resulting data is stored in a ML-ready format.
* Collaborate with our Bio-IT team to validate and optimize AI tools, focusing on their practical application in the lab and potential to drive meaningful improvements in antibody discovery and development.
* Work closely with colleagues to assess the effectiveness of new workflows and AI tools, identifying areas for optimization and providing recommendations for implementation.
* Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies and methods, staying up to date with the latest developments in the field and contributing to our team's ongoing innovation and improvement.
* Train and support colleagues in the adoption of new workflows and technologies, ensuring a smooth handover and minimal disruption to our research activities.

Skills & Experience

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as biochemistry, biotechnology, or molecular biology.
* 2-4 years of hands-on experience (industry or academic) with a variety of laboratory techniques and methodologies, including protein expression, purification, characterization, and analysis.
* Hands-on experience with biophysical techniques (BLI, SPR, DSF, ITC, HPLC) is a plus.
* Keen interest in AI tools and machine learning concepts and how they can augment existing workflows for antibody engineering tasks.
* Knowledge within antibody biology, structure and engineering.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and disciplines.
* A results-driven approach, motivated by the opportunity to make a tangible impact on our research activities and contribute to the discovery and development of novel therapeutics.
* Independent and highly organized with a critical mindset and a strong drive to innovate and optimize workflows and laboratory processes.
