Descrizione del lavoro:
Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) powers millions of databases for customers ranging from startups building their first application to the world's largest enterprises running mission-critical workloads. RDS and Aurora together form the most widely used managed database portfolio in the cloud, and the AWS Console is how most of these customers interact with the service every day.
The RDS Console team builds the experience customers depend on to provision, configure, monitor, and operate their databases. We support every RDS engine and Aurora variant across all AWS regions, partnering with service teams to translate complex database capabilities into intuitive workflows. We are looking for a Software Development Manager to lead this team and define the next generation of the Console experience, making it simpler for new builders to get started, and giving experienced operators the control they need to manage fleets at scale.
Who would succeed in this role:
- A deeply technical leader who stays close to the customer as well as the software and architecture that power the customer experience. You are energized by building systems that are both technically sophisticated and deeply impactful to the business.
- A leader who coaches their team on building systems at scale with the right customer experience, and who reaches out across the company to enlist input from key engineers, product managers, and UX designers to bring the thinking into your team's decisions. You build alignment across organizational boundaries and turn diverse perspectives into a shared technical direction.
- A leader who dives deep into a problem to understand how things work, when to make a subtle change, and when to disrupt the status quo to achieve the right results. You are comfortable operating at multiple altitudes: one moment you are whiteboarding how to simplify a complex database workflow with your senior engineers, the next you are coaching a newer engineer through their first operational event.
- A leader who cares about their people as much as the customers. You create clarity for your team in ambiguous situations. You set a high bar but invest in helping everyone reach it. You default to trust and ownership, giving engineers the autonomy to make decisions while ensuring the right guardrails are in place.
Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) is a part of AWS Utility Computing (UC) which provides product innovations - from foundational services such as Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS's services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you'll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
Key job responsibilities
- Leading a team of software development engineers building customer-facing Console experiences across all RDS and Aurora engines and all AWS regions.
- Partnering with product, UX, and cross-functional teams to translate customer needs into compelling, intuitive interfaces.
- Driving operational excellence and ensuring high availability of Console services at scale.
- Hiring, mentoring, and developing engineering talent while raising the bar on technical quality.
- Collaborating across organizational boundaries with engine teams, control plane teams, and AWS Console platform teams to deliver integrated experiences.
About the team
The RDS Console team is part of the RDS Platform organization within Amazon RDS. We build the AWS Console experience that customers use every day to manage their databases across all RDS and Aurora engines.
