Job role

We are currently seeking a highly skilled IFRS 9 expert to become part of our team at our Bucharest office. The individual will be collaborating with the IFRS9 Investments Competence Center ("ICC") of the Group Accounting and Reporting Hub.
The ICC ensures the proper classification and measurement of investments under IFRS 9. The team's main task is to provide expert judgements centrally at Allianz Group Accounting and Reporting ("GAR") regarding the so-called SPPI test for classification of financial assets. The team also supports GAR in determining impairments on these instruments. The ICC's extensive expertise in financial instruments as well as their strong methodological and accounting skills enable them to guide the Group-wide IFRS 9 process within GAR in alignment with the Allianz Operating Entities ("OEs"). The ICC aims to leverage its expertise and integrate further accounting- and investment-related topics, such as impairments and the central oversight into the team.

What you will do:

Provide expert judgement on the classification and measurement of financial instruments in accordance with IFRS 9 for the debt investments held in the relevant Allianz portfolios
Support the global steering and consistent application of the correct investment classification for the Allianz Group in close cooperation with OEs, asset managers and GAR
Contribute expert knowledge to support GAR in complying with the IFRS 9 impairment requirements
Update and refine the applicable IFRS 9 accounting guidance in agreement with GAR and the Group's external auditor
Actively support the improvement of the Central SPPI and Impairment Engines
Foster the implementation of innovative technological solutions, based on artificial intelligence etc.
Review and recommend improvements to the ICC's internal control environment

What you bring:

Strong academic background in accounting and finance with focus on financial services, insurance or banking
Expertise in the IFRS 9 classification and measurement as well as impairment requirements
Experience in working in an international environment (Big4 or similar company) as well as working on local and Group-level with focus on accounting policies
Fluent in English (German language is a plus)
Excellent technical and analytical skills, logical in approach and high attention to detail
Goal-oriented work with a clear focus on the relevant key aspects
Good user skills MS Office, understanding of data flows
ACCA, CECCAR or similar diplomas are a plus
