WELDING SPECIALIST

Within the shipyard ATG Giurgiou, which is a subsidiary of the French Shipyard PIRIOU, the welding specialist ensure :

* Ensures the activities of control and certification of the welding process
* Provides technical and quality support in the welding process
* Participate to maintain the welding equipment's in good condition
* Propose maintenance and investment plan for welding equipment's

Activities

* Prepare and analyse preliminary welding documentation for each assigned project;
* Propose and develop the new WPS if necessary
* Know the process parameters, their influence and their adjustment mode.
* Follow the welder's qualifications and keeps record of certificates
* Keep track of welding consumables stocks and request replenishment as needed;
* Identify by visual inspection weld defects linked to incorrect parameter settings or processing conditions
* Ensures the planning of activities for quality control and certification of works carried out;
* Provides technical assistance on the production flow, collaborating with the engineers in the Technical and Production department, with the coordinating engineers, with the section chiefs and foremen;
* Archive and store specific documentation of completed projects
* Follow the subcontractors in term of quality and safety
* Maintain accurate records of welding procedures, test results, and process parameters for traceability and quality control purposes
* Maintain a proper storage of welding equipment and materials
* Interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings to determine welding requirements
* Monitor welding parameters such as voltage, current, and speed to ensure proper weld penetration and quality
* Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) methods like ultrasonic testing (UT) or dye penetrant (PT) inspection to detect defects
* Assist in troubleshooting welding-related problems, such as weld defects, equipment malfunctions, or process deviations
* Implements corrective and process improvement actions to treat quality defects and optimize weld integrity.
* Ensures the transmission to the client and classification societies of the records on the quality of the work received;
* Follow up the correction of the remarks made during the quality inspections of the works on the production flow.
* Collaborates with the production departments and the technical department to solve problems identified on his area activity;
* Collaborates with the technical and production department and follows up on any comments regarding the project documentation, estimates and bids submitted;
* Monitors the correction of deficiencies and resolution of customer and classification societies comments;
* Monitors compliance with quality system procedures for the objectives entrusted to it;
* Draws up all the necessary documents for the achievement of the objectives entrusted;
* Reports any irregularities or deficiencies in the production process/work organisation to the Quality Manager and Production Manager;
* Ensures implementation and participates in passing on knowledge to welders;
* Hand over the welding work to the customer / Classification society;
* Monitors the correction of deficiencies and resolution of client/rating company comments.

Responsibilities

* Responsible for the analysis, accuracy and actions taken to fulfil job responsibilities;
* Responsible for compliance with the provisions of the Collective Employment Contract, Internal Regulations, decisions and internal service notes on work discipline and production;
* Strictly adheres to internal procedures regarding personal data protection and IT procedures;
* Responsible for keeping data which, according to the legislation in force, constitute confidential data or service secret;
* Responsible for the quality and timely completion of tasks; Responsible for the correctness of the reports according to the requirements of the applicable standards on the welding activity;
* Comply with occupational health and safety, environmental protection and fire prevention and fire-fighting rules in their activities;
* Shall carry out his work in a manner consistent with his training and instruction and with the instructions received from his employer, so as not to expose his own person or others who may be affected by his actions or omissions during the work process to the risk of injury or occupational disease;
* Undertake to cooperate as long as necessary with the employer and/or designated workers to enable the employer to ensure that the working environment and working conditions are safe and free from safety and health hazards in its field of work.
