In the role of Software Engineer for Azure Compute Node Services group, you will help design, develop, and operate the compute platform that powers virtual machines, containers, and bare metal servers. Our team is focused on evolving the Azure host and implementing strategies to enhance performance, reliability, and efficiency. You will work closely with engineers across Azure to deliver scalable features that support diverse workloads with high availability.

* Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features. Engage in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

* Supports efforts to use debugging, tests, tools, logs, telemetry, and other methods to proactively verify assumptions before issues occur for product features in production. Conducts incident retrospectives to identify root causes of problems, implements repair actions, and identifies mechanisms to prevent incident recurrence with minimal supervision. Under minimal guidance, applies least-access principles, and uses logging, telemetry, and other appropriate mechanisms to investigate issues while retaining privacy and security.
Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items to bring clarity and provides estimation.
* Leverage performance and profiling tools to identify hot spots and bottlenecks across hardware and software boundaries. Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems.
* Act as a DRI for release management, ensure the release sticks to the schedule by identifying reasons for blockers/delays, improve the signals that are blocking deployments, triage the issues are new vs existing, mitigate and work towards improving the release process.

* Contributes to the identification of requirements for, and development of automation within production and deployment of a complex product feature, targeting zero-touch deployment when possible. Runs code in simulated, or other non-production environments to confirm functionality and error-free runtime for products with little to no oversight.

* Applies best practices to build code based on well-established methods and secure design principles while also applying best practices for new code development and formal validation of security invariants. Follows best practices for product development and scaling to customer requirements, and applies best practices for meeting scaling needs and performance expectations and security promises

Requisiti del candidato:

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
o OR equivalent experience.

* Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 
* Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

* 1+ year(s) experience in building System Software applications that run on Windows or Linux systems.
* 1+ year(s) experience using Rust programming language.
* 1+ year(s) experience with Hyper-V, VMWare, Docker or other virtualization technologies.
* 1+ year(s) creating componentized and well-architected software.
* 1+ year(s)experience improving service operations or engineering fundamentals.
