What You Will Do:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Welder Technician at our growing facility in Grand Prairie, TX. Dallas Airfoil Repair Operations (DARO), a recognized leader in the refurbishment of aero-engine and Industrial Gas Turbine airfoils, is looking for dedicated individuals to support our organization. This position is available on the first shift (5:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.).
* Follow detailed instructions from the leader/supervisor to carry out development, repair, and restoration projects for engine parts and tools.
* Layout work requirements and gather necessary equipment to perform routine repair and alteration operations.
* Perform TIG welding operations to fabricate or restore parts and tools where close tolerances are required, using specifically defined criteria.
* Utilize a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments to check dimensions and record results.
* Identify the need for and arrange for the repair or replacement of equipment as necessary.
* Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions, such as operator checklists, to ensure proper equipment operations.
* Conduct daily walk-around checks of all equipment and machinery used during welding operations.
* Assist others with new process tryouts and specialized assignments within the scope and skill level of this position.
* Perform similar duties throughout the assigned area, supporting department objectives and developing individual skills.
* Collaborate with other trades on joint projects where skill crossover provides opportunities for shared responsibilities and efficiency.
* Refer difficulties or complex issues to the leader/supervisor.
* Maintain logs and records to communicate findings and prepare requests for approval.
* Train for, obtain, and maintain licenses, operator permits, and certifications as required for the role.
* Perform additional tasks within the scope and skill level of this position as needed to support department goals.
* Conduct visual wear and dimensional inspections as required.
Qualifications You Must Have:
* HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
Qualifications We Prefer:
* Proficiency in welding various types of metals.
* Working towards CORE Apprentice certification.
* Strong analytical and creative troubleshooting skills.
* Clear and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
* Excellent judgment and professional maturity.
* Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
* Ability to perform visual wear and dimensional inspections as required.
* Successfully complete a welding certification test.

Pratt & Whitney Grand Prairie, TX, is a FAA regulated facility and as such under the U.S. Departments of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. * Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
