UNDP Mongolia is seeking a motivated and client-oriented Operations Intern to support the Country Office (CO) in delivering integrated operational services that enable effective programme implementation. The Operations function plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth, compliant, and efficient functioning of the office, providing cross-cutting support to programme and project teams.
The intern will contribute to a broad range of operational and administrative processes, gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic, multicultural environment. This includes exposure to routine office operations as well as support to high-level initiatives and events, including UNDP's engagement in major national and international platforms.
This role is well suited for candidates interested in developing practical skills in operations and understanding how coordinated support services underpin the delivery of development results.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the designated supervisor, the Operations Intern will provide cross-cutting support to the Country Office's operational functions. The intern is expected to contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of administrative and operational services. Key responsibilities include:
* Provide operational and logistical support to high-level events and initiatives, including preparations for the COP17 Presidential Event to be hosted in Mongolia, and UNDP's related programme and coordination efforts (e.g., event logistics, documentation, coordination with stakeholders, and administrative support as required)
* Support coordination efforts related to inter-agency collaboration and partner engagement in the context of major national and international events, ensuring timely administrative follow-up and information flow
* Assist in maintaining office records, documentation, and filing systems (both physical and digital) in line with corporate requirements, including proper archiving and knowledge management
* Provide general administrative and logistical support to ensure smooth day-to-day office operations
* Support the preparation, processing, and follow-up of operational documentation, including payments, requests, and other administrative actions, ensuring compliance with applicable rules and procedures
* Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, trainings, and events, including coordination of logistics, preparation of materials, and documentation
* Support travel-related processes, including arrangements, documentation, and administrative follow-up
* Contribute to the management of office assets, inventory, and related records, including tracking, tagging, and monitoring movements
* Assist in coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, service providers, and partners, and support basic information gathering and follow-ups as needed
* Provide support to staff-related administrative processes, including onboarding, separation, and maintenance of relevant records and documentation
* Assist in tracking and organizing operational data, records, and reports to support transparency and efficiency
* Perform any other operational, administrative, or coordination tasks as required by the supervisor

Required Skills and Qualifications
Education:
Candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements:
* Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master's programme, or higher);
* Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor's degree or equivalent);
* Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation;
* Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.

Field of study:
Social Sciences, Business Management, Public Administration, International Relations and/or other relevant fields.
Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience but experience working in operations and administrative areas is highly desired.
Other:
Extracurricular activities that are demonstrated of their interests in international development (i.e., gender equality, human rights, etc.) and/or their skills in administrative and operational processes.
Language:
* Excellent command of English and Mongolian, both oral and written;
INTERNSHIP CONDITIONS
* This internship assignment can also be completed as part of national service obligations or a postgraduate professional traineeship program.
* UNDP will provide a stipend in the monthly amount of USD 223.07 (in-person rate) in accordance with the provisions of the UNDP Internship policy. Except for the stipend, all other expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern or her/his sponsoring entity.
* Interns are expected to work full time, but flexibility is allowed for education programmes;
* Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UNDP during the period of the internship;
* Interns are not considered staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity;
* Selected Interns must be able to share proof of education enrolment and/ or graduation, medical/ health and life/accident insurance, valid for the location in which the internship will be carried out and be able to provide insurance documentary proof at the time of their selection;
* UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship;
* The purpose of the Internship Programme is not to lead to further employment with UNDP, but to complement an intern's studies. Therefore, there should be no expectation and guarantee of employment at the end of an internship.
