ING in Asia Pacific

In Asia Pacific, ING offers wholesale banking across 11 markets, namely Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam.

ING offers both retail and wholesale banking services in Australia. ING's regional presence includes a 13% stake in Bank of Beijing, China and a 30% stake in TMBThanachart Bank in Thailand.

Singapore is the regional headquarters for ING's Wholesale Banking (WB) business in Asia, which includes all WB business lines such as Financial Markets, Strategic Products, Sectors, Lending and Transaction Services and other support functions.

What will you be doing?

Data & Analytics Support
* Assist in building and maintaining dashboards in Power BI or Tableau for financial KPI reporting
* Support data extraction, cleaning, and transformation using Python (pandas, openpyxl, etc.)
* Help automate routine reporting tasks currently done manually in Excel
* Run data quality checks and assist in reconciling figures across reporting systems

Python & Automation
* Write and test Python scripts to process and load data from Excel/CSV sources into databases (e.g., SQLite)
* Assist in scheduling and maintaining existing automation pipelines
* Document code and workflows for team knowledge transfer

AI & Digital Initiatives
* Participate in ING's AI and digitalization projects under the guidance of the APAC Finance AI SPOC
* Assist in testing and documenting AI-enabled tools and prototypes
* Contribute ideas on how data workflows can be further automated or improved

What we are looking for?

You Must Have
* Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or related field
* Proficiency in Python - comfortable writing scripts, using libraries like pandas and numpy, and debugging code
* Familiarity with Excel - pivot tables, formulas, and basic data manipulation
* Analytical mindset with attention to detail
* Good communication skills - able to explain data findings clearly

Good to Have
* Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, or any other data visualisation tool
* Basic knowledge of SQL or databases (e.g., SQLite, MySQL)
* Understanding of financial concepts (income statements, KPIs, balance sheet basics)
* Experience with version control (Git/GitHub)
* Interest in AI/ML applications in a business context
