About the Role

* Support the development, preparation, testing, and evaluation of cosmetic and personal care formulations.
* Assist with the preparation of laboratory samples, prototypes, and customer submissions.
* Conduct basic testing and evaluations, including pH, viscosity, appearance, colour, and stability assessments.
* Support formulation projects through prototype preparation and ingredient performance testing.
* Participate in benchmarking studies and competitive product evaluations.
* Maintain laboratory records, sample logs, inventory, and technical documentation.
* Assist with laboratory housekeeping, stock control, and equipment maintenance.
* Follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), safety requirements, and quality procedures.
* Gain exposure to personal care categories including skincare, haircare, toiletries, and sun care.
* Work closely with technical, quality, regulatory, commercial, and innovation teams.

This internship forms part of the Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme, a business-led collaboration with the South African Government aimed at reducing youth unemployment by creating opportunities for young people to develop new skills and gain meaningful workplace experience.

About You

* Recent graduate with a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Formulation Science, or a related scientific field.
* Passionate about cosmetics, personal care products, and formulation science.
* Strong attention to detail and good laboratory practices.
* Eager to learn and develop technical knowledge within the cosmetic ingredients industry.
* Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
* Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
* Currently unemployed and between 18 and 29 years of age.
* Must not have previously participated in a YES4Youth programme.
* Motivated to build a career in the personal care and cosmetics industry.

To be eligible for this opportunity, you must:
* Be an unemployed South African youth between the ages of 18 and 29.
* Hold a completed tertiary qualification.
* Be currently unemployed.
* Not have participated in a YES4Youth Programme previously.
