Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. United Nations Environment Programme - Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is a partnership between the United Nations Environment Programme and the global financial sector created in the wake of the 1992 Earth Summit with a mission to promote sustainable finance. More than 500 financial institutions, including banks, insurers, and investors, work with UNEP FI to understand today's environmental, social and governance challenges, why they matter to finance, and how to actively participate in addressing them. UNEP FI's work also includes a strong focus on policy-by promoting country-level dialogues between finance practitioners, supervisors, regulators and policymakers, and, at the international level, by promoting financial sector involvement in processes such as the global climate negotiations. Communications are an important part of UNEP FI's overall mission and they are embedded in all aspects of its activities. In working with and communicating to our various stakeholders and audiences we raise awareness and support the adoption and integration of sustainable finance. By setting norms, providing tools, research and capability development, and facilitating networking and engagement activities we are helping to transform the global financial system. We also promote the work of our members-global financial institutions, including leading banks, investors and insurers-through various communications channels as well as events. Tasks: The intern will be supporting the Communications team within the UNEP FI Secretariat. Daily responsibilities may vary depending on the individual's background as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to: * Assist with the writing, editing and design of communications content, including newsletters, social media, web content, articles, digital content and other targeted communications * Assist with managing the UNEP FI website; managing day to day updates and content development * Assist with social media outreach and create proposals for social media campaigns (social media, video editing and Canva/Hootsuite skills would be good to have) * Assist with monitoring web, email and social media analytics; present findings and formulate actionable takeaways * Assist with the day-to-day coordination of activities, in particular key publication launches * Assist with communications for virtual events and webinars, advancing the sustainable finance agenda to audiences around the globe * Assist with tracking media coverage of UNEP FI and its initiatives.
