Responsibilities
The RISQ Division's mission is to contribute to the sustainable and predictable growth of the SG Group by overseeing and independently challenging the objectives and strategies of the Business Lines. RISQ's mission is to independently analyze, challenge, opine and monitor on the risk-taking activities of the Business Lines in order to get to the best possible outcome for the Bank. The RISQ division in the US supports all the activities in the Americas Region (US, Canada and Latin America), which is almost exclusively SGCIB-oriented.
Within the RISQ Division, the Operational Risk ("RISQ/AME/NFR") department has the primary responsibility as the Second Line of Defense ("2LOD") for developing, enforcing and overseeing the Operational Risk Framework based on SG Group, Regulator and peer best practices. The mission is to manage the operational risks and permanent control frameworks to which SG's Americas operations (SG AMER) are exposed.
Key principles include:
* Clarifying the roles and accountabilities for Operational Risk specific programs cascaded from the AMER Exco Management to the First Line of Defense ("1LOD"), individual employees and Risk Management teams
* Ensuring regulatory requirements are met while providing maximum business value and efficiency
* Establishing and providing independent operational risk oversight of 1LOD owned operational risk responsibilities
* Providing guidance and advice to the lines of business on a day-to-day basis to pre-emptively identify, manage and mitigate operational risk throughout SG AMER
* Evaluating and escalating critical and emerging risks across the firm and to the Group level organization, and ensure proper controls are implemented
* Aggregating risks and information across SG AMER; ensuring escalation of non-compliance of risk limits and standards through SG AMER governance and reporting structure
Monitoring, Control & Reporting (MCR) team within RISQ/AME/NFR ensures that the processes and governance around operational risk (i.e. Operational Risk Event Collection/Reporting, Risk Appetite/Key Risk Indicators, etc.) respect the group policies and norms. MCR consolidates, analyses and escalates the operational risk reported by the various lines of defines to provide management with an executive view of the risk through governing committees or day to day interaction. Additionally, the team improves the efficiency of risk monitoring through automation. As a member of the MCR team, the VIE will be expected to support the goals below:
* Define and oversee the data collection process for the operational risk framework
* Produce operational risk indicators and analyse the data to find key insights
* Perform analysis to assess quality and meaning of data
* Preparing reports for the management stating trends, patterns and predictions using Operational Risk data
* Maintain and develop the Operational Risk framework
* Provide support for NFR Analytics/Data Champions project initiatives
Day to day responsibilities include but not limited to:
Reporting:
* Design and develop intuitive, insight-driven dashboards and visual interfaces that transform complex operational risk data into clear, interactive visual stories;
* Produce operational risks reports, operational risk appetite statement metrics and key risk indicators for SG Americas Senior Management and perform ongoing monitoring.
Python & Web Development:
* Write and maintain Python code, including building Streamlit web applications and PowerBI dashboards to assist RISQ management in monitoring and escalation of material operational risk topics and incidents.
Deployment:
* Deploy applications on Virtual Machines;
* Oversee and maintain GitHub repository management, data sets and web app deployment processes.
Data Orchestration:
* Design and Orchestrate ETL workflows / data pipelines.
Entrepreneurial initiative:
* Locate and define new process improvement opportunities and propose innovative solutions to improve reporting efficiency and documentation for operational risk management framework.

Studies & experience:
* Graduate with a Master degree from Business/Engineering School or University in Analytics/Business Intelligence/Data Science/Computer Science/Financial Engineering/Statistics or quantitative disciplines.
Language skills:
* Fluent in English (B2-C1);
Fluent in French - a plus.
Technical, operational & Soft skills:
* Expert Python programming, including data manipulation and automation for reporting pipelines;
* Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau, with a focus on building clear, accessible, and executive-ready visual dashboards;
* Transform raw operational risk data into clear, intuitive, and visually compelling narratives that help stakeholders quickly spot patterns, detect trends, and understand relationships across diverse data sets;
* Apply strong UI/UX principles to dashboard and application design, including thoughtful layout, information hierarchy, color theory, and intuitive interaction patterns;
* Developing or contributing to Streamlit web applications with attention to usability and user flow;
* ETL concepts, including shaping data for downstream visual use cases and ensuring consistency across data sources;
* Strong systems thinking, data interpretation, and the ability to convert complex risk data into meaningful visual narratives;
* An entrepreneurial spirit with a drive for innovation - proactively identifying visualization improvements and elevating reporting standards.
Proficient in:
* Good understanding of deploying applications on Virtual Machines;
* Familiarity with GitHub and version control best practices;
* Solid grasp of machine learning libraries and data science fundamentals;
* Productive collaboration with members locally and remotely;
* Strong Communication and presentation skills;
* Finance/Banking industry (preferred but not required).
* Knowledge of Operational Risk Management/Enterprise Risk Management, GRC Archer - a plus.
The VIE assignment in a nutshell
This VIE in Canada is to begin as soon as possible, but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 24 months.
