The difference our new Communications Engineer will make

As a Communications Engineer you will be required to carry out preventative and corrective maintenance, ensuring that the transmitters, receivers (site dependant) and associated control equipment perform to operational requirements.

Responsibilities:

* Carry out planned maintenance work on transmitters, receivers and associated control equipment including Fault Analysis & repairs as part of the engineering team.

* Support the engineering team in all operational and technical matters.

* Maintain technical and administrative records and provide information as required.

* Safety & Health of self and others who may be affected by work activities.

* Conduct Flight-watch and Crypto duties when required.

* An adequate knowledge of and compliance with the Health and Safety policy and regulations consistent with their responsibilities.

* Observing safe working practices as advised and instructed.

* Report incidents or hazards which have led or may lead to injury.

* Carry out lone working, on call and key holder duties at appropriate sites, in accordance with Babcock Health and Safety instructions. Demonstrate flexibility by multi-skilling in other departments as necessary.

* Demonstrate flexibility by multi skilling in other departments when necessary.

* Undertake minor engineering projects.

* To carry out on call duties as directed.

* Practices and regulations. Issue antenna clearances as requested, complying with local procedures.

What do I need to do this role?

Experience and Qualifications

* Qualified to BTEC National Diploma in Engineering (Electronic / Electrical) or equivalent.

* Be SC DV Cleared or willing to attain the clearance.

* Basic record of proven ability in related work. Requires good self-motivation.

* Ability to demonstrate competence in operational and maintenance duties.

* Ability to work to demanding timescales.

* Competent in solving technical issues and aware of future technical developments.

* Possession of full driving licence.

* Willingness to work at other sites within the UK and Overseas.

* Possess basic computer skills.

* Possess basic knowledge of data communications and networking technologies.

* Experience of work with fixed high Power Transmitters as required for specific sites.

* The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
