BP has invested billions in renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, biofuels, hydrogen, and renewable natural gas. Notable investments include the acquisition of Lightsource BP (a leading solar developer) and Archaea Energy (a major renewable natural gas producer in the US). In 2022, BP completed the acquisition of Archaea Energy for $3.3 billion, further strengthening its position in the renewable energy sector. The company has committed to increasing its annual low-carbon investments to $5 billion by 2030 and aims to become a net-zero company by 2050.
