ABOUT THE TEAM

Our Backend Engineering teams build the core systems that power Trade Republic's platform. We work on high-impact problems such as designing scalable services, improving system reliability, and enabling product teams to ship quickly and safely. Our systems handle real-time data, financial transactions and critical user flows - where performance and correctness matter. As a graduate, you'll work closely with experienced engineers who will help you grow from foundational knowledge to building production-ready systems.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

● Contribute to backend services using modern JVM technologies (Kotlin, Java,
Spring)
● Support the design and development of scalable, reliable systems
● Work with APIs, databases and service-oriented architectures
● Learn how to write clean, maintainable and well-tested code
● Collaborate with Product and Engineering to deliver user-facing features
● Gain exposure to cloud infrastructure (AWS), containerisation and CI/CD pipelines
● Assist in debugging, monitoring and improving system performance
● Gradually take ownership of well-scoped technical projects

You'll learn how backend systems are built, deployed and scaled in a real production environment.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

● Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
● Strong foundations in programming (Java, Kotlin, or similar)
● Understanding of core computer science concepts (data structures, algorithms,
APIs)
● Exposure to backend development through projects, internships or coursework
● Curiosity about distributed systems, scalability and system design
● Fluent English (written and spoken) - all communication and collaboration is
conducted in English
● Structured thinking and attention to detail
● Strong communication skills and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
