Based: Cairo, Egypt. Hybrid
Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading provider of solutions for the design, simulation, and manufacture of products across many different industries. Formula 1 cars, skyscrapers, ships, space exploration vehicles, and many of the objects we see in our daily lives are being conceived and manufactured using our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software. We offer a role with responsibility, independence, and the possibility to give proactively, by encouraging a collaboration culture with room for individual development.
The Brightly Team in Egypt is looking for a summer interns to work as a Cloud Engineering Intern.
Start your career with the Strategic Student Program (SSP)!
The SSP is our formal internship programs at SIEMENS Software. You will be mentored by guides and work directly with costumers to create direct business impact and again invaluable professional experience!
The program is a 2 months summer internship in July/August 2026 (extended to 6 months internship for this role). There will be opportunity to learn and contribute in a variety of areas of the software development process, with emphasis on a number of achievable projects to both encourage your development and deliver something useful.
Main Responsibilities:
* Help build and maintain infrastructure as code (Terraform/Cloudformation) for AWS accounts, networking, and shared platform components.
* Support CI/CD and automation workflows (e.g., GitHub Actions/Jenkins) that deploy infrastructure and enable secure, repeatable changes.
* Contribute to observability and reliability work: dashboards, alerts, logging, and runbooks (CloudWatch and/or LGTM/Prometheus/Grafana).
* Assist with cloud security fundamentals: least-privilege IAM, secrets management, encryption, etc.
* Investigate operational issues and participate in problem-solving: triage, root cause analysis, and follow-up improvements.
* Create and improve engineering documentation for teammates and future interns (how-to guides, architecture notes, and troubleshooting steps).
* Work on a scoped summer project that delivers a measurable outcome (e.g., automation, reliability improvement, or cost optimization), then demo it to the team.
Required skills, knowledge and experience:
* 3rd or 4th year Student in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
* Comfort writing code or scripts (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) and a willingness to learn new tooling quickly.
* Familiarity with at least one cloud platform (AWS preferred) and foundational networking concepts (VPC/VNet, DNS, load balancing).
* Interest in infrastructure as code and automation
* Basic understanding of containers and/or Kubernetes concepts (Docker, ECS/EKS/OpenShift) is a plus.
* Curiosity about reliability, observability, and security (monitoring, logging, IAM, secrets, patching, vulnerability remediation).
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a bias toward documenting what you build.
