KONE's Patent -team is responsible for ensuring protection of KONE technologies and designs. We manage patenting process from Invention Disclosures to Granted Patents globally and provide support for different functions in patent related questions.

We are now looking for a

Summer Trainee, Patents

Depending on your background you can focus on either patent administration/process and/or technical patent engineer tasks.

As a patent administration/process trainee you will be handling patent agency correspondence globally, receiving invention disclosures, checking invoices and docketing information to patent database. You will get a broad overview on how global patent department is managed.

As a patent engineer trainee you will evaluate patentability of inventions, search prior art and review competitor patents. You will have an opportunity to work with R&D and Innovation teams.

The team is based in Hyvinkää, Finland, where you are expected to work 3 days a week. You can also work partly remotely or at Espoo Office.

We are looking for a student with ongoing studies 3+years to work for 3,5-4 months between May and September 2026, based on availability and preference.

In order to be successful in this role, you preferably have
* Bachelor's or master's studies in business or information technology in university or university of applied science (AMK)
* Or Bachelor's or master's studies in Technical university, majoring in mechanical engineering, digital technologies or engineering physics
* Analytical approach and problem-solving skills
* Ability to learn quickly and open-minded attitude
* Systematic and organized working style and attention to details
* Proficiency in common MS Office tools (Teams, Outlook, Excel)
* Fluency in English both spoken and written

You will be working in a global team significantly investing time and effort on how we protect our products and services and solutions with patents. You get a chance to work with future innovations of elevator and escalator industry as we work closely together with R&D and Innovation team.
